Skyrim, what do you want to know?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 11:28 am

Hi guys, I've taken time to shoot some questions around and ask of first hand insights into Skyrim. There is NO SPOILERS contained within this thread. I will make that very clear.
Here is a transcript.

Soop: What can you tell me about the Character creation segment of the game?

Cortexe: The character creation is great! It's very customizable

Soop: Is it similar to what they had in Oblivion?

Cortexe: Yeah a bit, but it feels way more customizable and I had the feeling it was more like my own character :3

Soop: Ahh great, Oblivion was quiet extensive in its customisation. Would you say that Skyrim is just as extensive or more accessible?
In terms of being able to create faces that look "right", I know it was difficult to avoid deformed looking characters in
Oblivion.

Cortexe: To be totally honest i had trouble making a deformed looking character here It's feels better and looks better.
my girlfriend had a go at the game herself and actually made a really cute character which i had problems with in oblivion
(thank god i had the pc version so i could mod the hell out of it) xD

Soop: That's great to hear.
I don't know how far you've gotten yet, but does there seem to be a reasonable amount of variety in the Armour's?
Oblivion was stale due to the fact that just about everyone was dressed the same and it took literally hours to find a new
piece of armour.

Cortexe: Yeah it has loads of variety! i haven't met a single person who looks the same (except guards and people who are
supposed to do that ) though i'm not all that far with all the deaths and the ages of travelling xD

Soop: Also sound promising.

How have you found the time and traveling speed?
Does the character move slow, does time pass quickly?
Is there a sense that the distance needed to be covered is great? (Compared to say traveling from Anvil to Cheydinhal? )

Cortexe: Travelling Takes a while even on horseback. Character moves at the speed you would expect somebody to move, my
first horse is a bit slow though xD but it takes time because the world actually feels HUGE! i've barely left my first city
yet it feels like i've traveled days on end (thank got for fast-travel. wasn't expecting to use it but i was proved wrong )
Time passes at a seemingly natural pace and in my opinion, bethesda has done a good job on both aspects

Also Traveling at night can be really scary since I've seen mammoth's and giants in day-time and it freaked me out and to
know they're probably still there with more stuff creeping around aswell i just want to go to an inn and sleep unlike in
oblivion and morrowind

Soop: That sounds great, thanks for your insight!

What I'm most looking forward to is strolling through the forests at night and listening to howling wolves and [censored]ting myself every time I hear a noise.

Thank you SO much. This is EXACTLY the type of information I like to hear on threads. General answers, yet they give a lot of information.

=No spoilers

Just thanks =)

This for all types of awesomesauce. I literally cringed every time I had to travel at night in Fallout 3, but in a good way. I keep forgetting about night in Skyrim. I always loved it in Oblivion, too.

And thanks soop and Cortexe. I enjoyed the OP.

Jesus, I really can't bare this anymore, it's going to be sweet. I feel like I'll be spending 3 hours in character creation alone, and I love it!

OP:

Did you encounter a guard yet that yelled "Stop right there, criminal Scum!" at you? Or didn′t you break the law yet?
Because they HAVE to put it in.

This was great! If you hadn't put the "there will be no spoilers here" right there I wouldn't have read any further, but I'm glad I did!

What do I want to know?

Will the speed limit actually apply to me as I drive home with my CE?

It's a short ten minute drive from GameStop to my house. When I have the CE in the seat next to me, I'm pretty sure I can shave 6-7 minutes off of that time...

I don't suppose anyone's heard what format the music files are in (mp3 still, or possibly ogg or m4a...), and possibly how they're organized in the music directory...?

I really hope you can define music played on a cell-by-cell basis on the exterior...

Is it strange that my questions about Skyrim at this point are 1) totally not related to plot, and 2) are more something discovered by looking at the installed game's directory than in actually PLAYING the game? XD

I'd like to know what skill levels up when you're fighting hand-to-hand. Is it one-handed? Two-handed? None?

Despite Oblivion being my favourite game to date, it was extremely repetitive. Has anyone who has Skyrim already noticed that this is improved?
