Why is everyone copying the questions, op never said to do that lol, well anyway...
What were you doing this time last year, waiting for the game?Watched a lot of films that where like Skyrim to get me hyped, the classic Conan the Barbarian films came to mind as one of my favorites, also the new Beowulf animated film did the frozen nordic landscape really well, I loved the snow effects in that movie. I also stood atop my Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion looking off at Skyrim in the distance waiting to get there.
What were your impressions based on the pre-release trailer?I loved it, I was really surprised that this elder scrolls was taking place in Skyrim, thats been my favorite land since the very first game "Arena" and its the landscape I was excited most to explore in current gen graphics.
What was your first impression upon playing?I absolutely loved it, I melted away in my seat and got really immersed, the music also caught me off guard, I wasn't expect it to be so wonderful, it made the snowy landscape really come to life to me, both visually and with sound. I'm also really impressed with the minor details, I especially have to take note of the rocky mountains in this game, some of the best terrain I've ever seen in a game, they really went above and beyond using more then just height maps but a lot of sharp rocks on the side of mountain faces as well. Also I loved the snow blowing over the hill tops and roofs, details like that you rarely see in other games.
What do you think of the game now?I'm a little disappointed how buggy the game is turning out, sure previous games had their bugs too but I never saw them so game breaking, I never had missing objects in my Oblivion homes or couldn't complete the main quest in Morrowind without reloading saves. Skyrim is without a doubt the buggiest game Bethesda has ever released and that makes me a little bit sad, I'm sorry I'm a huge fan of the series but thats just how I feel, I'm also really frustrated on Bethesda's priority with their patches, there are still a ton of really game breaking bugs in the game but their patches lately haven't really been fixing anything, they only seem to be laying down the framework for one dlc after another.
I still enjoy Skyrim though, general exploring and such and the fact that I still play it one year later must show that its still a really good game
