[REQUESTSUGGESTION] Slavers of Skyrim

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 2:21 am

This is a totally-free-to-use suggestion for anybody who might be interested in creating an extensive mod with a more or less dark atmosphere.

The natural starting point for S.O.S. (if that name strikes your fancy) would be to expand Belethor's store to include facilities for the human trafficking operation, that he most obviously must be running on the side.

Additional content might include, among any number of other things:
- Adding Radiant Raiment as a merchandise supplier
- Adding dancers at some Inn (in the fashion of Desele's establishment in Morrowind)
- Having a link to the smuggler den at Brinewater Grotto
- Having a link to the Black-Briar family, possibly the otherwise phlegmatic son, or the daughters personal testing lab
- Having a link to the Silver-Blood family and their mining operation
- Having a link to the nice people at Fellglow Keep or Mistwatch
- Having a link to the Boethian cultists

One would need a fairly well developed quest, or two, or several, to tie it all together. Quests could be about unraveling the the nasty operation, or not. Possibilities here may be almost limitless.

Y'know, I always thought that "sell my own sister" bit was just an exaggeration, but now I'm not so sure...

A slavery mod is already on my list, and I'm planning to start on it after my first mod which will change skooma drastically and add in quests. My aim for these kinds of mods is to add in a darker side to Skyrim, and aid evil players with their role playing experience. If you don't mind, I would like to use your title for my mod.

As far as I am concerned, you can be my guest, masoni88n and use the name "Slavers of Skyrim". I make no claim on the title nor do I grant any exclusive rights to it. After all, I am not personally working on this kind of mod, and I have no intention of acting like a "patent troll", which I would consider to be highly improper.

It would just intrigue me to see an "expanded general merchandise" store in Whiterun to match Belethor's dialogue.

Slavery did play a remarkably visible role in Morrowind due to the conflict between slave owners and abolitionists. With all the dunmer refugees coming to Skyrim, it would not be surprising if they brought that cultural element with them. The lack of any mention of slavery in vanilla Skyrim seems to me to be a part of the general mainstreaming process, and I think there is an obvious opening for mods involving it. (Of which there no doubt can be many kinds.)

As an example: (This involves a spoiler from Morrowind)
Spoiler
One quest in Morrowind involved providing a local tribal chief with an elven princess to be his wife.
The solution was to buy a suitable young lady from a slaver, dress her up as a princess, and make the delivery.
Afterwards, both the chief and his wife would tell the player that they were satisfied with the outcome, and the chief would compliment the player's clever solution, though he was never fooled.

If the general NPC handling is similar to FO3 & NV (it seems so) I am planing to implement my enslaving scripts to Skyrim. It's all pretty vague at the moment without CK.

this would be a very good idea. slavery especially in mining would work well in this game.
