Slavery in New Vegas

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:17 am

I'm guessing that we'll be able to enslave people in FO:NV for Caesar’s legion. Do you think the enslavement quests will be expanded upon?

Yes slavery is evil, but I thought some of those enslavement quests in FO3 were well done. Saving Red only to enslave her, shrapnel closes the store and wanders after you enslave flak. Always liked the in game repercussions, like losing vendors, doctors, traders, and quest lines. Also it was always fun to mez people to see who you could enslave and whose head would pop. (I think I got negative karma for writing that.) Not to mention if your playing the evil guy/gal enslaving someone is about as evil as it gets.

Anyone know any details?

Are more enslavement quests something you’re interested in or is this stuff just tasteless? Was it fine the way it was in FO3?

Don't know any details... am I'm not into the slavery thing. But assuming that you can, hopefully there will be something more indepth to it. There should be expanded quests, I mean if someone wants to RP that way, it would be awesome for it to lead somewhere.

I'm hoping that if I enslave people that they will show some emotions to it and not just the same everytime.
Was annoying with the mesmetron.
After you put the collar on them and tell them to go to paradise falls every single one IIRC just runs off directly.
Why couldn't someone cry and beg for mercy?
Or just plain simply not believe you and walk the other way, jump you or try to take the collar off only to have his head popped.
Enslaving people gave no satisfaction.
I want emotions damnit Janet.

It would be interesting to have more slavery stuff. I personally enjoyed killing the slavers in Paradise Falls, and found Temple of the Union to be a very fun side-quest. Enslaving NPCs just didn't quite feel right. Not morally, but rather it didn't feel as complete as the anti-slavery activities.

Since the Caesar's legion is one of the major powers in the mojave, i wonder if there's an evil quest line to control the Caesar’s legion?

I would like to see slavery expanded upon. I mean, as previously stated, it was very dull in Fallout 3. While the concept was cool, it could have been alot better.

As for opinions, I honestly thought it was a nice addition. While I don't think slavery is "good" in the real world, I can definately see its implementation in a post-apacolyptic enviroment.

Someof us hope for a knockout system, where you knock them out with a blunt weapons (or maybe just a certain one) and theres a chance to knock them out, Then we get some rope........and now we gotta figure how do we carry them back or do we leave a marker for the CL to do pickup.

And yes emotions are wonderfully satisfyi'n.

I hope I can take them home and employ them as house-helpers.

There should be repeatable slave runs like in FO2, but there should be thought out quests for the bigger slave raids. Also, I don't know whether or not we'll be seeing FO3's mesmatron again. Plus, we know we'll have faction specific houses so our CL house should be catered to by slaves.

I loved turning Raiders and Slavers into slaves. I wish I could have kept a few as followers. To keep my house clean, my needs fulfilled (wink), and as bait.

"Get over that hill slave, and make sure that deathclaw died"
"But thats Old Olney!"
"Yup. And for 200 caps I'll have you replaced. Your call.

I hope they have other ways to enslave someone other then mezzing them. Knocking people out in New Vegas is back. So I hope we can just knock them out and tie them up.

I would also like to be able to buy generic NPC slaves. To use them to carry my stuff and maybe use them as food when I run out. Just don't give them a weapon or they turn on you.

Whether, or not they will turn on you should depend on how you treat them, and how much you make them carry.

Very few people like being a slave. Even if the person treats you nicely, you're still just a slave. Now if you find that rare person that likes being a slave the rules of how they turn on you or not could be different.

Than why is the CLs army made up of slaves? I doubt the slaves would fight along-side of CL if they hated them.

What other options would you think they have? Fight or die! Or get crucified.... and die.

No mesmetrons, please. Either knock them out, or intimidate them through dialogue (Speech, guns, unarmed, melee, etc.). Even so, they should make it so you have the option of only fighting for the Legion, instead of collecting if you don't want to. Collecting should only be featured in side quests.

True, but if they're giving most of the guns to the slaves, than I'm pretty sure the slaves could rebel.

"The Legion is comprised mostly of reconditioned tribals and their young offspring." They have been "reconditioned" or born into it. Plus the Soldiers/slaves get stuff out of it. They get loot from the towns they take and the people they kill.

Also it is like a fight or die deal. Same deal the Sovet troops had during WW2. Get killed by the Germans or be killed by us.

When you are on your own in the wasteland with just a slave. There is no one watching your back. Keep the person unarmed and tied up when you sleep.
But now that I say that treating them nice could play a role. Maybe they will get stockholm syndrome.

Still I think we can agree we should be able to buy generic NPC slaves :D.

A guarantee to have food, water, shelter, and a support network would encourage a lot of people to be slaves.

I was always friendly to the slavers in FO3. However, I did very little slaving myself. I found it boring and not worth the effort.

I don't care about slaving opportunities, I'm with NCR.

Metzger died, Eulogy Jones died, Ceasar will too!

Freedom for all, slavery for none!

Aye, thats good propganda. You'd fit well into the NRC ranks.

But as a business partner of the CL I will have to enslave you.

I'd rather die free then live a slave.
