Slowing down levelling

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:13 pm

Hey guys, I'm not at all experienced as a modder so I really don't know how difficult this would be to do, or to be honest whether I'd actually need to modify files outside the game. But anyway I was hoping someone might feel inclined to point me in the right direction:

Is there any way at this moment in time, prior to the release of the construction set of editting the speed at which my character levels? Ideally by slowing the rate at which skills improve with use? Thanks in advanace for any replies.

edit: Thanks to rheia for solving my problem :)

You can use the weakest weapons you have and battle the weakest enemies you can find.

But to answer your question that would probably be one of the easiest mods. I don't know how to do it myself thou.

If you dont mind giving up Achievements in steam you can use the console to lower your lever every other time you lv up in the mean time.

Oh yeah, I'd probably be able to work out how to do it with the construction set without much trouble, was just wondering if I could do it early :P The console idea might work as a band aid though, thanks.

There are two mods that alter the way you level up currently, that I know of.

Slower skill gain: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=49

And it's alternative:

Slower levelling, higher skill points per level: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=175
-has several options to choose the slow down rate

In addition to this, you could also quest exclusively with a follower.

Also, I've used the PC console (~) and my Steam achievements keep coming. So, I don't think "cheating" affects the achievement system.
