Smaller HUD and font on PC?

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 6:46 pm

Will the PC version at least have a smaller interface and font compared to the console version? This isn't something that should be difficult and it's one of the things that really is a complete eyesore on a PC monitor.

HUD/menu mods are usually the first things to arrive so I wouldnt worry too much.

It would be nice to have an option to scale the HUD though.

While I'm confident that mods will be quick to fix these issues, I'd prefer it if the devs were to do it themselves this time. I think mods should be used to create additional content, not to fix things that the devs should've taken better care of

Hopefully there will be something a bit more PC friendly for PC users, but though I don't see any reason why not - seeing how much complaints there've been about the subject - I doubt it'll happen.

I hope this happens out of the box for the PC version, but I have my doubts.

It seems odd to me that for Oblivion, the Bethesda blog once mentioned the Darnefied UI mod as one of their favorites. Baffling as to why such a feature never made an appearance in Fallout 3 then. It's really annoying to have a 19" widescreen display, be sitting a foot away from it, and being forced to scroll and scrolls through menus because of the giant text. All PC monitors now are by default HD in resolution, so we don't need the same consideration that must be given to the console versions to make sure those with SD TVs can still read the text.

I do hope the PC UI is tailored to the PC and what is needed. However, more than likely, it will be a mod that will give us what we want in the game.
