Social Classes and Morality

Will the moral character of Dunwall's citizens vary across social classes?

An example of a game that really stumbled on this point was the PS3 exclusive Haze, in which every rebel was a saintly freedom fighter and every soldier was an evil, demented jerk. The result was a game in which the "moral dilemma" that was supposedly at the core of the experience just ended up having no impact at all.

Essentially, I'm wondering if we'll see some aristocrats who are good people, along with some peasants who are not, etc. If it's as black and white as "rich = evil" and "poor = good", it would undermine what looks to be a really well developed game world.

There hasn't been a lot of info out on the plot so we don't much about that. Piero wants to help you and he is an aristocrat as well due to his inventions and a lot of other characters that are not just one dimensional and the frequently seen characters we get in other games.

The question is not just about the social classes in the game but whether or not the characters are more fleshed out in the game and what roles they play. From the footage I've seen on that specific points and people claiming that the writing is solid (that and they actually getting a really really good writer on board) I would say that this won't be a concern and the characters are probably going to be very rich and diverse and not the standart black and white that we all know from many games.

One of the soldiers in the game is an Admiral who was loyal to the previous regime and he asks for your help for some tasks. Otherwise, what the man of discord who you don't want to cross said :P
