As the title says I had a problem that is now solved (it took me 6 long hours to try everything) and I want to share my solution.

My machine: ACER Aspire 7745G notebook with ATI Mobility HD5650 and IntelHD/first generation switchable graphics.
Stock drivers (at first), latest version from ACER. These drivers run very well everything except RAGE.

My problem: I have RAGE Anarchy edition on two DVDs. I have activated RAGE and the two DLCs on STEAM and decided to download from STEAM instead of using the DVDs. Game took 5 long hours to download. When selecting "Play game..." I got a brief (~3seconds) black screen then crash to desktop with error message: "Rage has stopped working ... bla,bla,bla".

I decided to update my video drivers, but I knew I could not install latest drivers from AMD for my notebook because my switchable cards configuration is not supported by AMD anymore... (2 years old computer no longer supported... next time I'll buy Nvidia machine for sure).

Then I went to http://leshcatlabs.net/index.php/category/unifl/ page and did a complete drivers uninstall following http://leshcatlabs.net/manual/removing_previous_brand_custom_drivers.htm guide and then installed a tweaked driver (http://leshcatlabs.net/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=9) using http://leshcatlabs.net/manual/updating_driver_updating_from_brand.htm guide. Please pay attention also to http://leshcatlabs.net/manual/unifl_configuration_tool.htm page!!!

The driver installed with no problems and now Rage is starting fine. I will come back with further info if I have to tweak other things for improved performance. I hope this helps all of you with switchable video cards.
