I'm working on a project which requires me to occasionally refer to things in Norwegian, particularly government offices and institutions. One thing that I'm finding confusing is how exactly to word things. I'm not finding much help through google and I know we have a great many Norwegians on these forums so please do lend a hand. As best I can tell Norwegian makes use of a lot of compound words. I'm not sure that my translations are correct but here are some examples:

(Just tell me if all this looks right)
Royal Chancellor - Kongeligkansler
Royal Republic - Kongeligrepublikk
Elector State - Verengenstat
The Preferred - Den Foretrukket
Great Ruler (As a title) - Storhersker
Elector Council - Verengensradet

A bit too eager with the compound words
Royal Chancellor - Kongelig Kansler
Royal Republic - Kongelig Republikk
Elector State - Not sure. Maybe Valgstat/velgerstat. (valg = election, velger = voter)
The Preferred - Den Foretrukne
Great Ruler - Store Hersker
Elector Council - Maybe valgr?d/velgerr?d?

edit:
Might help to think of compound words to be used when you have a ?X of Y? ie. bus driver -> bussj?f?r, elector council -> velgerr?d.
But when you have ?ADJECTIVE NOUN? you don't use compound words, ie. blue sky -> bl? himmel, great ruler -> stor(e) hersker.
