Some Esoteric Questions about Skyrim...

Post » Mon Feb 18, 2013 9:19 pm

Folks,
I need some help with a few of these issues. They may seem a bit....trivial, but if any of you have answers, I sure would appreciate hearing them.

1. Going into various mines, crypts and buildings, I not infrequently see all sorts of tools that I could potentially pick up - a torturer's kit, saw, hammer, tongs, shovel, hoe, etc etc......I was wondering: do ANY of these tools (other than the pickaxe and wood axe) serve any purpose in the game?

2. In various parts of skyrim, you can find graveyards out in the open - the one on the south side of Falkreath is a clear example. Can those graves be opened up and looted? (sorry to sound ghoulish, but ever since FONV, I look at graves and wonder what's in them.)

3. During College of Winterhold MQ, you run into a fellow by the name of Quaranir - a Psijic Monk. At a certain point, he leaves the college, never to return. I followed this guy out the last time. He went to the inn at Winterhold. I hung around there for 9 hours to see what he would do, but he was still there, just standing around. Does anyone have any idea what he eventually does?

Forgive the goofiness of the questions. :-)

1. Yes. Decoration. Practical uses? No.

2. No. Personally, I prefer it that way. In Fallout everyone has to scavenge to survive, making it a sometimes necessary evil. In Skyrim, food and supplies are a plenty, it would seem a bit too "ghoulish" to include that feature if you ask me.

3. I think he is supposed to mysteriously disappear. I don't think you are supposed to follow him. The Psijic Order are a mysterious lot after all.

I would agree with djAmpnz's answers... amusingly, I ended up weighed down a bit with linen rags, embalming tools and what not early on, thinking "hmmm I may need these for some quest..." Nope, never needed them, dumped them somewhere. :)

I satisfy my ghoulish gravedigging by scouring the barrows and ruins anyway, plenty of stuff to find, less creepy than digging up a grave.

And I lol'd that you followed the Psjiic monk. I suspect he was supposed to despawn after a certain amount of time, but since you are still in the cell with him, until you zone out to somewhere else, he must be sticking around. Heh.
