Its behesda wanting you to have good beginning gear. Happened to me too.

Well if he comes up to me i'll have no problem carrying his stuff with my 560 stamina.

He is one of the random quest/events that happen in the game. I have had a fugitive run up to me and give me a bow and then a I had a courier come give me a letter that said something about knowing i found a dwarven dagger and they would like to buy it, so cool things happen all the time.

I had that happen to me while I was fighting a ice-breathing Dragon. It also overencumbered me. So I didn't notice that I was moving so slowly because of that and not the ice breath until it was far too late...

Had this happen to me, luckily the real owner showed up shortly thereafter.

I had the same thing happen to me. The guy gave me a helmet to hold and then ran off, a few seconds later a hunter appears asking if I'd seen the thief that stole his helmet, I said no and ran away pretty quickly.

ah it's just sorted itself out.a hunter just came up to me,and asked if i saw a fugitive.i just handed back whatever it was that the guy had had stolen from him,by the scoundrel now i can continue where i left off

I had a courier give me a letter saying some guy had died and left me money, I got 100 gold from it.Things like this are nice little surprises for the player.

Haha I didn't know about the hunter coming up after, I had this guy show up right at the start and give me a battleaxe, he was literally like the 2nd NPC I met after the dude who helps you escape Helgen, I met him on the way to Riverwood - I held on to it for a while thinking he'd show up again later but in the end I just sold it in Whiterun.

This happened to me.. except he was being chased by a group of spiders, who killed him literally the second he handed me the items.
