Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:27 pm

i was at the sloan ... got a quest to take out deathclaw alpah and den mother....

i also heard about there were really overpowered too..

that time i was lvl 21 with hunting rifle.. and van g's combat armor.. and. va(whatever) rifle.. with lots of AP ammo..

for the love of god. what takes them to kill those.. piece of s....s ...

evertime i kill one (well actually if i miss hitting head with hunting rifle with sneak crit)

i had to take stimpak or food to resotore most of my health ..

on hard.. i thought it was to hard.. so i change the difficulties to very easy... but... funny thing is... i died .. by two deathclaws taking about 5 hit??

what.. the hell is wrong with deathclaw...

even over powered rad scorpion(with shot gun) and cazador(anykind of weapon have heat in it... e.g. laser rifle or flamer) are really easy to kill

but deathclaw.. is just.... bull.. i think...

what is there weekness..

I've been actively hunting any and all deathclaws lately. I can one shot the regulars and three shot the mothers. I've been using the sniper rifle.

Hunting rifle is way too low to be using for Deathclaw hunting. You need Sniper or Anti-Materiel.

Agreed with above. Until I started using the sniper rifle, I had issues with deathclaws. Now, I get at maximum range, and they never touch me.

Use either a sniper rifle or anti-matter rifle with AP rounds, making sure you are always crouching when you pop off your first shot so that you get the sneak crit bonus. And use the terrain to your advantage. Over near the mother is a conveyor belt that you can walk up and get a decent sniping position at, and the Deathclaws have trouble figuring out how to get to you while you are on it. If you find one running at you, use a light machine gun with AP rounds to unload on them at close range.

I'm lvl 20 and just ran into my first deathclaws, 2 regulars and 2 young. It only took 2 headshots with the sniper rifle to take down one of those regulars on hard. But it seems that the DMG and the DPS it displays for me are glitched. Because it shows 54 dmg on the sniper rifle and it does way more than that....

I don't want to condone cheating but you can climb up on top of the rim at the entrance of the quarry. It is the rim to your left if you are looking at the path that goes inside where the dead one is laying to the right next to the big earth mover. Climb up top and walk along the edge. It is difficult to jump and navigate (not sure you are supposed to be able to get up there or not) but you will eventually get up if you keep trying. Now walk around the edge and you will be on an overhanging lip that can just barely spot the death claws in the distance. Now sneak and shoot. They will not be able to target you because they can't get on the lip. I was only level 9 when I killed them. It took about 250 + rounds from the service rifle and cowboy repeater but I did it. Also, using the stealth boy helps as well, to get crits that is. Once the Alpha male is dead along with all other death claws in range jump down and sneak into the middle of the field, where the alpha male was originally located. Their is a pile of rocks about 8 to 10ft high. Jump on top of the very highest rock, sneak and start blasting away at the female and her babies. Again, the glitch prevents them from being able to target you. At level 9 and 250rounds later they are down :). Hope this helps. GL!!!!!

Let me know if you need any more help...

I've used the sniper rifle from from a high elevation to kill Deathclaws. The way I see it, there's no cheating in that.....that's what anyone would do in actual combat. Higher elevation always has the advantage in combat ;-)

To be honest, I have 2 saves right now. One of which I talented my guy completely wrong, and the other which I sat down and mathed out all the skill points, talents, and perks for all levels....

Let me tell you right now, the bad save that I had, at level 23 it was freaking hard to kill those things. On my better save, at level 23 and on hard mode and freaking demolished the entire place with no companions and barely any range sniping (where you can stand very far away and snipe them down with out them running at you and killing you.)

I really believe the most important thing when it comes to being able to not have one issue with the entire game depends on 3 things. Number 1, most important, spec your dude right and pick a side... a mix of everything isnt good in my opinion. Number 2, dont be stupid (use correct bullets at the appropriate time, dont run in and get your ass kicked when its 2 Vs. 6, and gear your dude right). Number 3, always upgrade your guns according to how you speced.

Once I sat down and looked at the guns available to me, and chose my spec around those this game got 100000x easier.

You need to use weapons that use one big single attack, like a sniper or Gauss Rifle and not something like an automatic weapon, such as the 9mm SMG.

Two guns.

Anabelle and the Grenade Machinegun.

I didn't even have a high explosives rating when I killed them. Something like 30.

That and a spot where they can't get to you.
