Something you'd like to encounter

Post » Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:30 pm

This isnt a 'what do you want' thread. We already have that.

Personally, I'd like to encounter an abandoned Military Base/Depot. Kind of like the Sierra Army Depot in Fallout 2 or Fort Constantine in Fallout 3. I'd also love to maybe see an abandoned Googie styled hotel, with cars in the parking lot, suitcases quickly abandoned, bad Hawaiin shirts from before the war in them

Anywho, what kind of locations would be right up your alley?

I agree with you; I'd love to see a hotel like that. :goodjob:

I'd like to see a little pre-war neighbourhood, completely abandoned. The houses would be pretty much perfectly clean, but for some reason, have no one living in them.

I don't really know... I'm not feeling imaginative.

I would like to encounter a run down zoo or something, with mutated animals.
Just a thought be it stupid or not :)

I would also like to encounter more topics on ideas or why the game will be great, rather than....why this game will svck! etc.

A fake town left over from Atomic testing with fake people and fake animals. Inhabitated by the occasional Ghoul. Definitely an old dis-used pre-war army storage bunker.

I pretty much live and breath fallout 3, I have many times dreamed of building a pre-war neighborhood/city. :sadvaultboy:

@Frantic- You know, I'm very easy to please, alot of these folks have obnoxiously high standards. It's going to happen, just watch and see the rage threads October 19th and 20th

Nothing wrong with high standards. And i know its going to happen.
It's just me really,i'm really liking the look of this game & i have no problem about others opinions.
Suppose i got defensive about the game....just can't wait to get my hands on it :)
I live in the UK ,so i wont get the game untill october 22nd i believe.
So that will give me a few days to read peoples comments about the game, though i will say i'll treat negative comments "like water off a ducks back"..i will still buy NV regardless :)
Hope you love the game my friend :)

Hehehe, well I pre-ordered from Gamestop. I dont care for them in terms of a good deal, but I find them reliable in getting the job done, so I have the CE on pre order there.

I want to be able to visit the Nevada Test Range. It's a pretty crucial place in the real world, I'd imagine it's even more important in the divergent timeline we know and love as the US would need somewhere to test new bomb designs. Maybe there you can find prototype Fat Man launchers, nuclear cannons and the like?

They haven't been reliable for me in the past (I remember I pre-ordered Mortal Kombat: Deception for them asking for a limited edition copy and instead they gave me the regular edition. I got my extra ten bucks back [the limited edition copy costed an extra ten dollars] but it was still inferiating when I asked that same store to reserve me a special copy months prior), but I'm hoping they won't mess up for me this time since I went to a new(er) GameStop with a different staff.

On topic: I'd like to see a ghoul in a pre-war outfit banging on the side of one of New Vegas' walls trying to get in to relive his gambling habit from before the war. If the player tries talking to him, he'll just ask for money.

Who else just wants cool ghost towns? And have little mysteries with the people who used to live there? I like the Pre-War Neighborhood idea too.

A random encounter with a tiny, low strength guy wielding a mini gun, trying to rob you.
It can be called "Napoleon Complex".

"Look, I just want to make this very clear. You're going to give me all of your money right now. I'm not afraid to use this you know."

You can have plenty of things to say, depending on your stats/skills.

Strength 7+: "Why don't you give me all of your money before I pick you up and throw you?"
Speech: "Come on. Put that thing down before you hurt yourself."
Regular: "Whatever. Bring it on"

The first 2 will have an obvious effect, but the regular one that isn't governed by any stat/skill will make him attempt to fire the gun, only to fall over. He would then get up and run away, yelling "I'm sorry! Please don't kill me!".

More torn down churches with human cages and useful items (ie bed, ammo, books).

Another one or two encounters with aliens.. cuz I dig aliens, but don't want them to over-do it.

I'd actually like to find a place where an alien's being kept underground for testing or something and have a quest around freeing/killing it.

More strange old ladies living alone in the middle of super mutant stomping grounds.

More towns with really strange people (like those folks who eat their neighbors). Maybe a side quest or random encounter with a small, crazy cult town that you eventually have to mow down before they try to sacrifice you, but there should be a more interesting way to kill them (like when you make the chandelier drop on the woman in the weird flashback/alternate reality quest thing in FO3).

Etc.

A rusted metal cage-like dome sitting out in an obscure area of the Mojave Wasteland. Inside would be a few basic melee weapons (nail board, lead pipe, etc.) in low condition. Yes, that was totally a reference to Thunderdome.

EDIT: While we're referencing movies, how about dead female wastelander with limbs missing while wearing a wedding veil outside of a small metal shack.
