Sony or Bethesda to Blame?

Post » Fri Jul 27, 2012 2:27 am

This is my first and most likely my only post so here I go.

I have had Skyrim since its release date and I am one of the few fortunate ones to have a bug free game (I feel bad for the ones who purchased the bugged version). I have been on these forums reading posts, and I feel the blame is being limited to Besthesda. Is Bethesda guilty of manufacturing a faulty game, not fixing bugs, not being transparent to their fans, and pushing PS3 users aside? That is a big YES! But what about Sony.

Sony has to approve patches, and in light of Bethesda's inability to make a free standing game on PS3, this is a good thing. But why has Sony not stood up for its people and brought Bethesda to task? I understand the business of the DLC being exclusive to Xbox (although I disagree with it), but why has Sony not been out in the public asking where is patch 1.6 and why are our people still not able to play a game that you promised our company would work? Sony has been burned by Bethesda and they have done nothing. If you watch the markets, Sony is a company that needs revenue fast. Everyone makes televisions, DVD players, etc, so why are they neglecting a section of their company that is always making them money? I have read multiple posts about people leaving their PS3's and buying an Xbox. SONY, this is a problem! I know Skyrim fans are limited (we truly do not make up a large demographic of PS3 users), but we are still PS3 owners. We deserve protection from the company that we keep standing by when they bring out new systems or their network gets hacked.

The fact that PS3 users now have to wait another undeteremined amount of weeks (sounds all to familiar) just to get patch 1.6/7 is unacceptable and Sony needs to make a stand. They need to lean on Bethesda and get us the answers that we are deserve (you pay $60.00, you have the right to know about updates/fixes for your investment).

For those of you that read this (and seem to have disdain for people who seeks answers), YES, I can wait patiently for Dawnguard and the patch. YES, I have a life that does not revolve around Skyrim. My only concern is I feel I have been left out. I stood in line for Skyrim, I spoke about its beauty and fun to others (which made them purchase it). I just want someone to stand up and get Bethesda to answer some easy questions. If the answer is "we messed up the game, and the patches seem to make it worse", then so be it. Just be honest and speak to us. I am willing to stand by Bethesda if they admit their mistakes, and help us get a bug free game with expansions/patches released at its earliest date.

Here ends thy rant.

Bethesda. Sony only tests the updates to see if it hurts the console, not if it works. Bethesda never said they sent it, and Sony never said they got it. So, Beth didn't send it.

The only thing we can rightly blame Sony for is not serving Skyrim the certification fail it truly deserved when it was submitted last October. It failed on two counts, not supporting FIGS correctly (until 1.4 PAL FIGS was missing most of the crime stats from the menu) which should be an auto fail, also some trophies don't unlock when you meet the criteria, like Master Criminal (caused by the FIGS issue) which is also an auto-fail.

Beyond that, the blame belongs to Bethesda and Bethesda alone. Can't blame Sony for not releasing a patch that was never produced, it's not their job to chase developers and make them do their jobs. All that's needed is for games that deserve to fail certification to actually fail certification, no more free rides, regardless of how big the developer/game is or how close to Christmas the release date happens to be...
