I had moved everything to there and now when I come back...it is ALL GONE!!!! DO NOT MAKE THIS YOUR HOME!!! I am so upset right now. I had moved all of my ingredients for alchemy and all of my smithing supplies to here and have come back to NOTHING!!!!! BEWARE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR STUFF TO FORT DAWNGUARD FOR FUTURE USE!!.

You don't own the fort so that's normal.

It means that after 10 days, every container will reset, removing everything it contains.

If you want to keep your things safe, for saying an example, you can come back to the fort every like 9 days, or less, and your stuff will not reset. If you, instead, are the type who travel much and rarely visit the fort, you better store your things in one of your homes. Also, I'm not sure about that 1 safe place in the fort, so you better not trust because who knows if it's a bug or what. (not saying that that tip isn't right, though!)

And remember, containers are tied to cells (room), if you stored your things in a container inside Fort Dawnguard, everytime you will enter from the main gate, the respawn time will reset. But there are are also the towers outside the fort, so if you stored your containers up there, that cell is tied to Dayspring Canyon, not Fort Dawnguard.

Hope this helped and wasn't much confusing

Love your avatar.

I think it's 10 days from when you clear the chest, so adding stuff doesn't reset the timer, just taking out it's default contents, so you can add and take stuff as much as you like but it will reset 10 days after the first time.

From what I understand the only safe place in the Fort is that room upstairs with the mannequin... I don't bother using Fort Dawnguard for storage or even to stay at, the rest of the Dawnguard are bad roommates & apparently think it's ok to treat themselves to whatever you bring in! Seriously though the Game Informer article that hyped Dawnguard DLC implied that the Fort or the Castle would be your homes, but that's not really the case.

I hope Bethesda releases some DLC along the lines of the Oblivion releases, remember the Thieves' Den & the Mage's Tower? & that cool little underground space for Assassin characters. & what player wouldn't love to have a legit little Fort to call their very own with a small population of retainers & craftsmen?

Sorry for your loss Verana, just remember in the case of any open world game, when it comes to moving your stuff to a new place always always have a backup save. & you can always get more stuff I guess....

you forgot battlehorn castle [oblivion]- yep your own castle with servants and man at arms etc
they just did not have a way to display your armour on manequins
but with my armour in skyrim disappearing on them and those things moving or going invisible
i understand why

i love that castle and frostcraig= mages tower
or the swindlers den= netted you up to 2000 everry two weeks [anvil]
i used to stick the adoring fan in the trophy room at the castle along with a frost atronach [from mages tower]
the one for the dark bnrotherhood was in lewayin

the knights of the nine was below skingrad-
loved the house in skingrad along with the obnoxious servant who made stuff for you
or the ghost mansion in anvil tons of storage- i filled everything up

You will not lose anything from the display cases even if you use them, just gets a bit crowded with the respawning items.
