Sorcerer Skills Overview

Post » Mon Sep 23, 2013 6:13 pm

Some good info again from Tamriel Foundry

http://tamrielfoundry.com/2013/09/skill-overview-sorcerer/

Looks like the taunt skill of one of the Daedric Summon pets has been removed, or at least its not in the description... they were saying at one point they had to nerf pets after a dev group of all summoners smashed a dungeon run.

I like the look of Dark Magic for support style play!

Still so unsure what class i am going to start with! I want to orientate towards being able to tank well, but i like keeping it unorthodox... if caster pet can taunt i will probably go down that path...

Then again i love to heal... but dont want to keep trading my weapon out for resto staff...

aaaah to many options!

Templar probably still best choice for me... hmm... lots to think about!

idk, the only time pets seemed good to me was in ff12 when we could set up a string of priority lists for responses so we didn't have to actively watch them and have additional keybinds to operate our pets. However lightning magics is one of my key signatures in 90% of the games i play. so I will probably do a sword and boarding heavy armor half dark magic half storm caller sorc tank. Building stamina dump abilities through sword and board, and the dark exchange ability and magicka dump abilities through lightning form and various dark magic abilities.

Perhaps you could be more specific. What characteristics of the WoW Warlock were you looking for?

Well more along the lines of demon summons like how you can have an imp, void, ect ect.

But reading the skill line of daedric summoning it looks like that they will only be a timed summon 10sec, 25sec or 1min and not a constant pet. " But it is still in beta so, it might change"

There is stuff i have seen that i want to talk about the sorc but it is agenst NDA so ill have to wait.

" don’t be surprised if you see a lot of tanking and melee DPS sorcerers pop up"

Tanking mages?" Guess were not in Kansas anymore.

With the DPS tree be lightning and the utility being "black" magic, i think someone has been playing a bit too much of SWTOR lately. In this case though, it looks cool and fun. Lightning, while not as fun as fire still is very awesome.

This is a little bit of a let down.. where are the other schools of magic such as restoration ,alteration and illusion skill lines. I was hoping that all of the original skills would be available. And most importantly where is fire and ice skill lines???

Destruction staff skill tree might be fire and ice. Restoration tree is with the restoration staff. Alteration and illusion might be the mages guild tree.

With that said any ideas on how illusion would even work. For PvP?

Yeah, there are 3 types of destruction staves, for fire frost and shock. Each has widely different attacks and CC abilities.
In general though, you won't find the traditional skills here. After all, how much would folks rage if destruction skills were Sorcerer exclusives?

i was told by someone that we can find skills that would fit in these schools scattered around the skill lines.

The summons are a toggle there is no timer on em. That said I like these abilities but do agree that I wish there was more. I'd like more summons, more destruction, more alteration etc etc etc.

Look to other skill lines for those. One class can't have it all.

Yeah. Knew I should have edited my post. Magelight's in the mage's guild tree, sorc and nb both have summons, there are destruction and restoration staves... They're all over the place.

The passives in the daedric summoning skill tree would suggest otherwise:

[Passive] Expert Summoner – Your summoned creatures gain additional bonuses; Winged Twilight duration increased, Familiar movement speed increased, Atronach range increased.

Looks like at least one of them has a duration limit.

Deadric summoning seems like going to be very useful for PvP. With all the extra creatures damaging your opponent. He will have hard time blocking or trying to dodge.

Yep. Both timed and toggled pets exist. Ph, and in willing to bet the lack of tauntness in the article is a mistake. I've spotted other things they've missed.

Jesus, those are a lot of options ... I thought I will play a Templar. But I love a mix of healing and Crowd Control, as in Dark Magic. Pure healing seems boring to me, but well ... In the end it depends on how the combat and skillsystem work together.

Would like to see the Templar skills :0

A little bit off topic but, am i the only one dissapointed that the nightblade is the only class without passives ? (yet)
I'm pretty sure templars are gonna have passives (kind makes sense to me), but i don't understand why nightblades doesn't have some kind of passives like upgrade slightly your sneak skill. if someone has a good reason why nightblades doesn't has/have (is it have or has ? They or it ? don't remember my english class that well) any passives AT ALL. please tell me, cause i'm really dissapointed right now.
