Horse mechanics are just awful. Skyrim is an AWESOME game though.

Does anyone else feel horses could have been refined? Dare I say Red Dead Redemption?

They're perfect for the environment. The horses are big and tough to withstand the harsh environment of Skyrim. The horses from RDR exist in a place where it warm year-round.

RDR has awesome horse mechanics but that was a big focus for them, they even made a video on it; Skyrim had a crap load ore to focus on and a good few people don't even use the horses.

I didn't really mention anything about the breed of horses.. I know that Red Dead horses are different warmer breeds, but it is foolish to deny that the actual MECHANICS of Skyrim horse gameplay is better than Red Dead

Fair enough fair enough.. I guess a western cowboy game is mostly about horses anyway.. Still.. Skyrim horses could be better

Yah, the Skyrim horses pretty much aren't worth using at all.

Actually, I disagree.

Maybe I just got really used to riding Oblivion's horses, I don't know.

I know the horses in Obliv were kind of hard to steer, but the horses in Skyrim are WAAAY too sensitive. I can barely get it to walk in a straight line. :/

It would be nice if they were improved, but I mean RDR was built around using horses, that was a huge major element of the game. Horse-riding in Skyrim is pretty much just to travel faster. I will say though, having played RDR some again in the week before Skyrim came out I keep pressing Y and wondering why I'm jumping next to my horse and not getting on it haha!

It's unfortunate that you cannot attack from the horse. That's my primary issue.

My few gripes with horses: They're a bit sensitive, it's hard to talk to people from horseback, and no way to properly look around while your horse is running?
