I'm looking for the Reaper's lair area, someone mentioned I could just get to the mini boss by attacking skeletons in the ground instead of hunting for the reaper fragments. And if that's the case I need some directions.

I'm so freaking lost in the Soul Cairn it's not even funny. I have a map, but the map isn't very useful, it's just some long vast valley of blah with no "to refer to points". So I'm just running around, that tower looks like the bajillion other towers here.

Can someone direct me where I need to go?

It all looks the same to me, so sorry no directions, everytime I get in there I get lost. But since the Reaper is imprisoned it seems unlikely your plan will work. Aussie attacked the black puff where he appears, nothing happened. Aussie attacked the skeletons, they came to life like they usually do when you catch them napping, as usual still you could not interact with them when they died to see if they had anything, but at least when Aussie returned with the fragments she got what the Reaper had. Find the Reapers Lair, then go get 3 pieces of his Soul Gem from the chests under the big floating Soul Gems. You follow the path almost to your final destination I think his lair is off to the right side. It would seem if you check the chests first you get no Soul Gem fragments from them. My first character Braggen found the lair pretty early it would seem he ended up with lots of fragments, Aussie struggled just to get three, since she had already raided nearly all the chests.
