1. DESCRIPTION

Pick up soul gem fragments, go to any forge, convert each soul fragment to a polished soul fragment, then using the polished soul fragments combine two or more to create the various soul gems used in the game.

The polished soul gems are only used for creating the soul gems or for selling. They are misc items and can only be created not found. So long as you have at least 1 soul gem fragment, you are able to craft a polished soul gem to combine with.

Example:
1 soul fragment + forge = 1 polished soul fragment
2 polished soul fragment + forge = petty soul gem
3 polished soul fragment + forge = lesser soul gem
4 polished soul fragment + forge = common soul gem
5 polished soul fragment + forge = greater soul gem
6 polished soul fragment + forge = grand soul gem
** 8 polished soul fragment + deadric heart + forge = black soul gem

** Only in the main esp

Technical reason for the polished soul gem:
Why not just use the soul gem fragments directly and convert to soul gems?
Reason is, each different model soul gem fragment you find in the game is considered a separate misc item. The forge only handles one type of item at time (in the creation kit). It won't except this OR that OR that etc. It's either All of this + all of that. So to get around that limitation I needed a uniformed conversion to take all the different item id's of soul gem fragments and turn them into one unit, which I called polished soul gem fragments.

2. REQUIREMENTS
================

Skyrim version 1.5.26, 1.6.87 or 1.6.89 are supported.

3. INSTALLING
==============

Use NMM: Download then install

or

1.) Extract the content of this archive into your Skyrim's data folder. ( by default the folder is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\data" )
2.) Activate the mod
3.) Play game

4. UNINSTALLING
================

Delete CS_SoulFragmentsToSoulGems.esp and CS_SoulFragmentsToSoulGems_README.txt from your skyrim's data folder.
( by default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\DATA\" )

Looks like a nice and simple mod, although black soul gems are normally only craftable at night. Would you consider disabling the recipe during the day?

black soul gems can only be made from grand soul gems on the shade of the revenant. Mind creating a version without black soul recipies?

Virapier: Done. I thought the same after I had posted but figured I'd wait a day to see if there was a need. It was minor to change so there's an optional file I added at http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19063/.

Thingy Person: It's such a minor thing, one could just wait till night and craft it. To me it would just seem like one extra step that's not really needed. If you'd rather not be able to craft black souls at the forge, I just uploaded an optional esp that disables the recipe.
