Soul Siphon - Borken

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 5:05 am

As the title says Soul Siphon has not been working for me, I picked up the perk, and have killed many things with my self-enchanted weapons and not gained any additional charges from it. To clarify, I tried it with both weapons enchanted before I got the perk, and after. These are generally weapons I have crafted myself.

I thought that maybe I needed the killing animiation, where you stab a saber cat in the mouth or something to get it to work, but that made no difference. I've killed dragons, spiders, ranged takedowns on tons of enemies, out in the open world. I've killed the nord "undead" sorta guys(draugr?), skeletons and even things that have "grand" souls, had I trapped their souls.

This is supposed to recharge the weapon that you use to take down the enemy, correct? By at least a small amount. My axe I am using at the moment hasnt appeared to regain anything, been a normal glass axe for a while while I've been trying to get this perk to work, again.

Edit:Just noticed the Typo in the title. That should say Broken,

I'm thinking leveling up Conjuration, will make a difference. I don't know if you've done the "Black Star" quest or not but this is also something that might help you, as well.

That svcks dude...so many broken perks, here's hoping a patch will come soon. I just wish there was a place we could submit bugs like this and get confirmation that Bethesda at least read it.

BTW, increasing conjuration won't make a difference Tuffluv, the perk description is quite clear.

The perk works fine, just tested it since I had an extra point. I'm pretty sure you're doing this but just to make sure you are killing enemies with a Bound weapon right?

Also, no, it doesn't charge your weapon just from killing an enemy. When you kill an enemy with your bound weapons you should see "Soul Captured" on the top left of your screen, if you don't see that then you probably don't have any empty soul gems in your bag. You need empty soul gems to put the soul into that you just captured.

Once you have soul gems filled, to recharge your weapon, go into Inventory and Weapons and highlight the weapon you want to charge. On PC you need to hit T to charge the weapon(you can see which hotkey you need to press at the bottom of the screen), you'll see a new window pop up with your soul gems listed in it.

I don't know - doesn't seem to be working for me. I was really looking forward to this perk but it hasn't recharged my weapon even once despite multiple kills - and I'm not using poison or magic.

Although it could be filling the gems - from the description I had assumed the souls would go into the weapon that delivered the killing blow but that doesn't appear to be the case. Filling up the gems with the perk seems kind of pointless though since it's simple to fill the gems just by casting one Soul Trap sometime during combat.

Remember Madmike77, when you were cast out into Skyrim.

You will have to create a back story to determine fate. The story is yours to tell.

Are you having a problem with recharging your weapon through defeating greater souls? Perhaps seek the Ebony.

According to the description it should recharge the weapon

"Death blows to creatures, but not people, trap 5% of the victim's soul, recharging the weapon"

This implies that it directly recharges the weapon, from the kill.

This is not a conjuration perk with anything to do bound weapons and only marginally to do with trapping souls.

It says nothing about filling soul gems. But that would explain how a grand soul got in my black soul gem. But in that case I never used a bound weapon.

Also, I have heard others say that it charges the weapon, So this perk may not be broken for all players, just some, like me.

I'm getting confused, I hear a lot of talk about Soul Siphon's effect on bound weapons (not just this topic).. But aren't bound weapons the ones you conjure up? I thought recharging would have to do with regular weapons with enchantments, right?

Rofl. Honestly I didn't think of that, I just thought the spelling was funny on its own, but this is so true!

Actually I think it may be working - but not on weapons that are empty of charges. That's where I was initially having the problem. Now I'm using a weapon that started on a full charge. I've used it through most of a dungeon without recharging and it's still over 90% - ie. down a bit but not nearly as much as it normally would be. I use Sneak and Two-Hand on Adept (kind of an odd combo but I got used to it in Oblivion) so most of the trashy stuff dies in one shot.

As for Bound weapons, yeah I don't know why they would be involved at all. I'm using an enchanted Dwarven Greataxe with a fire enchant.
