So I just had a quick question, before I waste an enchantment and soul gem. If I enchant a dagger with soul trap on hit, will soul trap trigger if I kill them with a sneak attack or do you have to swing the dagger for it to work?

But to clarify, if you have a dagger enchanted with soul trap and you stealth kill someone with said dagger and it's a one shot, yes, the enchant will work.

You have to hit the enemy with the soul trap enchanted weapon. If you sneak attack and kill them right away, you'll trap the soul if the sneak attack was done with the soul trap dagger.

It should work both ways but when you enchant a melee weapon like that make sure the soul trap time is on 1 second for maximum uses and since they die instantly on that last hit.
