No sound is heard when using the new shout I made

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:50 pm

Hi, this is my first time here. I was wondering if any of you know why no sounds are heard in the game when you make a new shout with the creation kit. All of my effects work properly, I followed the tutorial exactly and assigned it to the voices on the list. But when I use it in game..nothing is heard. Any suggestions?

Well, there is a Dialogue Bug in the CK (we await a fix). I have not seen anyone say it is effecting the playback of Spell or Shout sounds ... but I guess it could be.

Other than that ... IDK, sorry. I don't remember any posts on here about this issue, but have you had a good search?

Nope. No results found on here. No google searches yielded any real results, either. :/

One of my first attempts at modding was turning Alduin's rain-of-fire shout into a player-usable shout with appropriate words. It worked great, but just as you say, it was silent. I assumed it was because there were only audio recordings made for existing shouts, so there was nothing to play.

Could the dialogue bug effect new creatures sounds added into a Quest in the Combat tab? i created new sounds for some baby animals but even when i added the sounds and all they just dont make any new sounds.

The dialogue bug affects ANY dialogue that is not vanilla (Meaning custom, or edited vanilla dialogue). This includes ANY dialogue line that is spoken by anything. Custom creatures, custom spells, shouts, player combat sounds, etc.

It doesn't affect customized vanilla stuff that simply replaces the files (i.e. player voice replacers), but if you edit the topic info in any way it becomes potential food for the dialogue bug to feast upon.
