Post » Sat Oct 05, 2013 3:14 pm

me and my roommate have been arguing about this all day...

Soup, do you Eat it, or Drink it?

I say you drink it, because its the Broth that makes a good soup..
but my roommate says you eat it, because its got Potatoes and chunks of beef in it...

so, whats your opinion?

It all depends on your method of consumption.

Depends on the Soup really.

Blended or pureed soups you can drink if your too lazy to pick up a spoon.

Soups with chunks of veggies or meat is to be eaten. Otherwise, well, you'll regret it in about 4 to 6 hours.

If it looks http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu56/old_andy/reliefisknowing.jpg, you're eating it

if it looks http://www.appiehein.com/2490-2258-thickbox/cup-a-soup-spicy-chicken-unox.jpg, you're drinking it.

Like anything in life, it's all about the presentation

That first pic just gives Split Pea soup a bad name. And, if you don't like Split Pea soup, it's because you have not had my split pea soup. No, they are not peas, they are legumes.

And, yes, you have to use a spoon to eat my Split Pea Soup, as it has potatoes and carrots and ham and onions and other goodness in it.

Both. You eat the food in the soup, then you drink the broth of the soup. You're both right, congratulations. Go buy each other a round.

I think it smells like a skunks butt to be honest. My father in law likes split pea soup but he's very picky. I don't like any of it, not even the homemade stuff he makes.

Neither, soup is ingested.

But google says that the proper verb is eat, not drink, though drink may be used for thin soups such as broth.

Soup from a bowl is eaten. Soup from a cup is drunk.

You eat the little foody bits in it, and you drink the broth. If it has no foody bits but it's thick, you eat it. If it has no foody bits and it's thin, you starve.

Interesting question. I guess for me if I drink it like a beverage I'm drinking it and if I'm using an eating utensil I'm eating it.

You eat it... Then you drink it...

I thought this was common knowledge?
