Special edition?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 11:59 pm

Search bar turned up nothing for a thread so excuse me if there is one. I doubt the would do a SE/CE with a new series/game but I would love one like Deus ex HR had. $70 and it has an art book and some other goodies. I really love Viktor Antonov's work so an Art book would be amazing. Or maybe a pricey edition with a replica mask of the mask Corvo (Or who I am guessing is Corvo) is holding on the Gameinformer cover story art. Like that one Castlevania game had.

Do you guys have any ideas for possible Collectors/Special editions? Do you think there will be one?

I'd also love an art book, the one for Skyrim was fantastic, but I agree it's unlikely for a new franchise.

That mask is awesome, but a large prop just doesn't seem likely. (Tempted to make one on my own though.)

A bobble head of the main character would be cool.
If they make a CE it will probably have an artbook and some other stuff, that seems to be the standard formula for CEs nowadays.

Art books are pretty standard in Bethesda's CE. Oblivion didn't have one (it had the pocket guide instead), and while the FONV CE didn't have an art book the CE guide had a lengthy art section.

I think a CE is unlikely for dishonored, but if this is the case perhaps they can release a pdf of concept art like Bioshock did.

Well maybe a CE is too much but a good Special Edition coudl be feasible.
A couple of skins for Corvo, or something on that line would suffice in my opinion: add a steelbook cover and you get a perfect SE.

A CE for Dishonored please! I`d love to see a collectors edtion with the mask or something more awsome. Like Darksiders 2 CE with the 1:1 replice mask.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow did a CE/SE with a small replica of mask (God Mask was its name) so I suppose Dishonored coudl do the same.
I don't love CE particularly but I admit that for Dishonored, and for the mask, I would be glad to make an exception ;)

Art book, soundtrack, steel case with alternate art on each side, DVD with making of featurettes (I want that for this game more than any other), maybe a DLC code for a Whalebone Charm or a tiny mission. Make a third, more expensive collectors with everything listed and a replica mask and signed piece of artwork by Viktor Antonov and perhaps some others depending on scarcity of this particular edition.

It wouldn't be that outlandish. 100-300 copies of the CE and editions of the SE available for those who preorder. Availability is linked roughly to orders received. It goes out of circulation after a week. I bought the Signature Edition for KoA: Reckoning because I believed it would be a great game. Circumstances have prevented me from doing more than play the demo, but I think I'll enjoy it when I can play it.

I'll be more surprised if there isn't some form of a special edition. It's becoming the norm now.

SE nowadays are a common business practice and are often offered as pre-order incentives with no additional cost (The Darkness 2, Darksiders 2, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2 etc...) so having one for Dishonored would not do harm in my opinion: if not for us do it for the sales Bethesda ;)

I concur! And if that doesn't work, then I'll pay another sawbuck for artbook/soundtrack/DVD. Keeping your options open and my wallet dry since 2005.

A Special Edition will be great. The Corvo's Mask replica will be fantastic but I prefer a art book, soundtrack and steel case, because if we want the mask replica we must pay a lot of money.
Anyway I hope in a Special Edition... Special Edition for a Special Game. :)

Skins for a first-person game? =/

Anyway, the Collector's Edition needs to be better than the pathetically small art book and insignificant fraction of the soundtrack they put out with Deus Ex.

Of course, your sleeves have to look as fabulous as possible.

I think a CE is perfectly feasible for this game; it's been getting a lot of attention (just look how well this site is doing) and is backed by a major developer. Sales, at very least, will be quite adequate - assuming that the game lives up to its potential. I would be more than willing to pay whatever premium is asked for a CE which, I would hope, would include a substantial artbook, OST, perhaps a “making of” dvd and whatever else the developer would deem appropriate. I would also hope that the length of the game would be, at least, 30+ hours.

My initial impression of the game, gleaned only from the various trailers, is that it holds a lot of promise and potential. It's set in a compelling universe, with interesting characters, a very good story and splendid graphics.

What's not to like?

Like the Bioshock 2 special edition. That thing ruled! Except have a bust replica and making of instead of a record. That would be great. Big art book is the most important part.

There's no announced plans for a Collector's Edition. If that ever changes, we'll let you guys know.

Definitely buying one. Art book sounds like an amazing deal and also I would like to see a replica mask for sale. Be it seperate or with a really special edition, I want that!

A pity, I tend to only buy a game on release if there's something I won't be able to get later, like with a CE, so I guess I'll be waiting with this one.

This game is too special to don't have a Collector's Edition.

I'd be willing to buy a smaller one, say $80-$90. Inlcuded with that might be an art book, soundtrack, and small figurine.

The key word there is "announced ". There probably will be one, it's almost a given for higher end games these days.

That said, I just hope that there isn't a lame Gamestop only edition or something similar. I don't mind when there is a special edition, sometimes I even buy them, but I hate when there are a bunch of different exclusive editions for a bunch of different retailers, such as they did with AC:Revelations. I doubt that we'll see anything like that here, but you never know.
