I was wondering if anyone can reccomend me a great game to play, one i might of missed, that has soul, like Cthulhu. ive played tons of games so i doubt there is one, but i dont want to miss out if there is. RPG or shooter prefered but maybe something else too.

ill list a few ive played and really enjoyed

deus ex series
shock series
arx fatalis
vampire:bloodlines
cthulhu
castlevaniaSOTN
fallout & TES

any games like the ones above would be awesome, but something like half life or duke3D is ok too.

Pokemon? You would enjoy Pokemon: It has vast landscapes to cover, a constant objective that is a challenge to complete, has Magic! and Science! all over it and it was pretty original back in the day, and it has lots of soul - just visit Lavendar Tower and find out. :twirl:

Okami on the PS2 and Persona 3 also on the PS2. Two of the three greatest PS games that have ever been released.

http://thenamelessmod.com/real/ for Deus Ex is worth playing if you haven't played it (twice) already. There's also the more recently released http://www.moddb.com/mods/2027 which is another total conversion. I haven't tried it yet.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/6860/?snr=1_7_suggest__13 is a very cool stealth/assassination game, with all sorts of ways to reach and kill your target. The Steam page offers a demo too, though the mission it allows you to play is the first one which is rather linear.

Cthulhu? What Cthulhu game did you play?
Probably Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

If you like horror then the silent hill series is amazing....up to homecoming. That was really bad. 1-4 though are great games, a lot of people complain about 4 but if you get past it's faults it is an amazing story. The new one looks very promising.

I suggest you go back to one of the older chapters of the series below. I realise most of these suggestions may sound obvious, but perhaps you didn't think of them anyway.

Brothers in Arms (Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood are still worth playing imo)
Medal of Honour (I reinstalled Allied Assault and Pacific Assault myself fairly recently)
Call of Duty (1&2, some of the best missions were part of the original's expansion United Offensive)
Delta Force (Black Hawk Down)
Rainbow Six (the first Vegas is nice, but the old Rogue Spear is also worth considering)
Ghost Recon (Advanced Warfighter 1&2 are still impressive)

Yes, I glued my nostalgia goggles to my face.

Otherwise, have you recently played Stalker or Metro 2033? Fear? Crysis?
You could give L.A. Noire a go, since you state something different may do.

I hope this was at least a bit helpful.

Oops, forgot about 3.

I admit that mission planner is one of the best parts of Rogue Spear. And I liked choosing my own crew. I don't understand why they removed those features. I have a feeling Patriots will be even less tactical. And from what I've seen, they're destroying Ghost Recon as well. But I'm a PC gamer and Future Soldier's PC version has been cancelled, so I'll gladly leave those worries to the console fans. Don't get me wrong, they look impressive, but 'wild rollercoaster ride' impressive, not tactically impressive.
Apologies for the short rant.

Bioshock? A great story imo - sort of a spiritual successor to the System Shock series, and quite similar in theme and tone (but less character customisation.)

Apologies for the short rant.
You're not alone. I miss tactical games like that... SWAT is another series that's gone MIA.

If you like the mission planner, have you played http://store.steampowered.com/app/98200/? It's basically the mission planner idea turned into a game in itself. Simultaneous turn based tactics.

You appear to like FPS with a bit of depth and some RPG elements. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is definitely worth a look.

I would say Neverwinter Nights is a good one along with Icewind Dale I and II. They are D&D based so it is not as fast paced as the Elder Scrolls series nor is it open world but they are great games in their own right. Neverwinter Nights also has a good sized mod community last I checked so there is always a new adventure waiting for you.

Ecstatica 1 and 2 if you're looking for some good old DOS survival horror.

Thief series
Ultima Underworld series (precursors to Arx Fatalis)
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (not really an RPG, but a pretty varied first-person action game)

Have you tried the Avernum series? The graphics are crummy if somewhat artistic, but the story and gameplay is pretty good. Combat is tactical turn-based similar to Fallout 1 and 2, except you have up to four party members instead of just the one.

Apparently they're redoing the first three in the new engine so if you're a graphics [censored] you might want to wait for those to be released. Personally I prefer the retro static sprite feel of the originals. Actually this will be the third time the series has been remade. The original series was called Exile which had a purely overhead view and was more cartoony looking.

Betrayal at Krondor (PC) was my favorite game for like 10 years. It was the first 3D open world RPG, I believe. The map was huge for its time and the story is great. It was also one of the first really story driven RPGs I ever played. It's from 1993, you can download it online for free if you search.

The Ultima series (PC) is also great, especially 6 & 7. Ultima 7 had one of the best worlds for its time. Everything had a purpose -- you could get a job, milk cows, churn butter, bake bread, etc.

Glad you're with me, Captain. *salutes*
I was afraid I looked like a lone dinosaur. I think it's funny how many military shooters there are these days, but the overwhelming majority requires zero tactical skill.

Thanks for the suggestion. No, I didn't. That looks like it could be an intense game. Like a lot more intense than the actual tactical shooters. And despite my aversion to the constant adrenaline rush type of shooters, I'd miss the part where I can do pew pew.

CoD: sprint like Mr Bolt through mortar fire while firing an M240 from the hip and still stay alive/ tank: oh sheesh this is the tedious part where I take out my Javelin and blow it to bits, boo-hoo, *pew* goodbye!
GR/old R6: alert enemy and don't get the hell out of there -> dead/ tank: oh no, armour, run, run like hell!
*sigh*

Delta Force (Black Hawk Down)

Ah Delta Force! Used to love that game, especially the original one when I could actually make maps and all that stuff. But really that game had such a great online community, I used to play for hours and hours during the summer.

DF2 was okay, and LandWarrior could be fun at times but they were never as good as my DF1 experiences. I haven't played any other DF (except for the pretty pathetic PSone game), have any of the other release been any good? America's Army 3 has been the closest experience to Delta Force I've had, in that it's a pretty realistic game. Not necessarily a health bar, you take a few hits and you're down and it requires teamwork and medics and all of that. It requires precision and tactics. I used to love crawling for literally 5 minutes to get to a decent spot to snipe with the .50 cal sniper rifle in DF1.
