Spell left hand, Sword right hand

So we all pretty much know now that you cant block if you are dual weilding one handed weapons.

You get more offense but the tradeoff is no defense.

I'm assuming if you have a sword and a spell equiped, you will not be able to block also since the left trigger would be the spell.

I still plan to block if i can pull it off though. My plan is to hotkey the spell sword combo, then hotkey the same sword with no spell so its just the sword by itself with nothing in the left hand. We should be able to switch from spell to no spell pretty fast, so if an enemy gets near my i plan on putting my spell away so i can block.

What do you guys think of this strategy?

Works, but it does leave you open for a second ot two to attacks when you won't be able to do anything; because pulling out a spell is like pulling out a sword, it takes a little bit of time.

I'm probably going to rock the spell and the sword at the same time like Todd did in all the demos

how long does it take to put away the spell though? it seems like you should be able to put it away faster then putting away a sword. im not worried about equiping the spell fast enough, i will always have that ready, but when an enemy gets to close to me and i need to block i want to put it away quick

Can't say for sure, it might be faster or it might not be.
