**SPOILERS**Skyrim main story ending? good or bad?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:53 pm

*SPOILER DONT READ ON IF YOU HAVNT COMPLETED MAIN STORYLINE!!!*Hey i know its probly super late to talk about the ending to skyrim's main storyline. I completed the game months and months ago but i never got a forum account until today and I feel the need to ask people about there thoughts on the ending to the story. I understand the awesomeness of going to Sovngarde and fighting alduin but afterwards when i returned to skyrim i wasn't greeted with much praise. Everyone was kind like oh cool you killed him with such a blank face. I geuss what Im trying to say is i saved the world and then noone seems to care too much and there was no ending cinematic either
:(. What were your thoughts on the ending?

I know theres no pure ending to skyrim but when i defeated the world-eater or alduin i would of like some praise for saving skyrim or tamriel instead of not much praise at all.

You're so self-centered!

Well, I thought the ending was *good enough*, but I don't typically play TES games for the MQs. If I did, I'd probably be disappointed by them. So, it's sort of irrelevant to me.

Well, I guess people thought they better try and rebuild and recover after the civil war and after dragon attacks. You know people don't feel like celebrating if houses are burnt down etc (i know the damage isn't portrayed as big in the game, but c'mon, deep inside you know it must have been really bad)

The ending reminded me of the first Pokemon movie's ending. Only without Mewtwo erasing memories and Mew... Acting like a five year old who can fly. I liked the ending as far as how much it reminded me of something I have nostalgia for goes. It would have been better if the ending also made the flying reptilian things(just saying this in case the obvious term is a spoiler for some draconian reason...) less violent.

I have to admit that I was confused at first and checked the quest diary to see where I had to go next, before I understood that the main quest was really over. The ending was ok, but a bit too abrupt for my taste.

hehehe I mostly play elder scrolls for the world/atmosphere and quests. Everything is awesome and by no way am i dissapointed by the MQ line ( catching the dragon was a major highlight and sovngarde) the ending was good enough and i think i just wanted maybe a small cinematic to sum up what happens now and how the world has reacted i geuss.

I guess your praise were all those dragons floating about.

There were parts of the Skyrim MQ that I *thoroughly* enjoyed. The Thalmor Embassy was one, the Blades Temple was the other, etc. But, taking it all in sum, I have gotten more play out of the game actually avoiding the MQ than pursuing it.

hehe yer i geuss. now that i think about it noone really has much of a clue about the dragons because they are all focused on the civil war at hand. Coz most people in the game have to be told that alduin egsists through the campaign. So truly your saving the world out of your good will not for money, glory and attention.

Sure i can say the same here as well first few nights were the MQ line frenzy then i settled into dark brotherhood and pure exploration. I've found i think 320 locations and ive done all factions. It might seem like im one of those people who does half or the whole MQ line then just buys the next video game and never touches skyrim again. But Im trully a fan of the elder scrolls :D. Plus is that a dunmer mage for your picture? if so good choice! ;)

I personally hated the " z0mg you solved the oblivion crisis" and "e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-excuuuuuse me, nerevarine", so I'm glad that completing the main quest didn't cause half of the NPCs in Skyrim to lose brain cells. In fact, the issue with Alduin does not seem like public knowledge. Few people actually know that Alduin is back and ready to end the world; it's the regular old dragons that everyone fusses about, and those stick around.

I agree that Skyrim needs more of a reputation system, as opposed to their current model of the guards saying things. And I think that if they put in a Reputation system that later on if it was high enough you could become a Jarl or some kind of king. Maybe not the emporer because they'd have to "forget his name"

Problem is, i don't think many people are really concerned with alduin. He's not very impressive aesthetically; compare that to the daedric prince (whatshisname) in oblivion, and all the prominent oblivion gates popping out all over tamriel. The daedric prince's avatar was humongous in the imperial city, so everyone was like ZOMG ITS THE END OF THE WORLD while in skyrim, alduin is flitting about reviving his dragon pals, and everyone's more concerned with the civil war; the dragons seem more of a nuisance or something :P

Also, killing alduin was in sovngarde, and the beings there can't really spread the message to the living world eh? :D

Ironic really, as the coming of Alduin supposed to signifies the end of time.
