EA Sports Season Ticket

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 5:10 am

I feel like we're being trolled at this point.

How? The whole point of the game is to play along with the current season. If the Ravens and Steelers are playing on a Sunday you boot up Madden and play out the game that's happening.

It's a sports simulation, not a sports video game. You play it because you love the sport and you play alongside the sport.

Like MLB 2k12 has MLB Today, where you play the game as it happens in real life with the real life starting line up and pitcher. What's the point if your players don't match reality?

... why not just wear a plain tee and a pair of blue jeans...?
I'll even spray paint the logo of your choice onto the tee. I'll only charge $50.

What's the point if your players don't match reality?
Fun?

I guess if that's what you're into...

...But it's still just a video game bro.

Fun?

If you want fun, go play some other video game, this is about sports and serious competition with real sports fans.

Hey, like I said: if you find entertainment through this form of consumerism and brand loyalty, by all means be our guest. It's your money and this is obviously valid enjoyment you're talking about.

In other words, please don't be bothered too much by the pinholes that I'm poking in your arguments. You're soaring in the clouds and it doesn't matter if the cows below are bellowing insults at you at this point.

I think the most amazing thing about this is how rattled everyone gets 'round here.

Really? See the only time I really play NHL anymore is when me and the boys have had a few drinks so we turn hitting power to full and mess around. Sports games were always games I least associated with "serious gaming". No idea it was serious amongst people now.

Sounds like you don't have the latest roster.

Yeah, if you want to have a chance of doing well online you need to be serious. Especially now that they have online leagues and such, it's a lot of fun, but a good bit of work. Also games get pretty serious with a lot of people I play with. It's not something they take lightly. Someone loses a game of Madden and stuff will be broken in the room... LOL

It would appear you need to sign up for this uber EA Season Pass for their R&D programs. This is a scientific field and these are the most serious of simulators.

Hey, he just decided not to get a Sports Season Ticket this year! He'll have the new roster in a few days! Three, to be exact!

Do I need to wear a lab coat? Pocket protector?

I'm pretty sure you'd get very frustrated very quickly. Especially when I fired up NHL '10 and proceed to skate in circles going, what is my guy doing? How do I? Oh, yay! I scored...in my own...goal...yeah...I. don't. Know.

See, but there are people who take Madden very, very seriously, and a lot of leagues are extremely competitive. It's not just a video game, it's a competition. A competition between 32 people who are passionate about sports and their teams. It's like fantasy football where you control your team. You make a mistake and it's game over. You lose a key player and your season could very well be over.

If you're the casual gamer it's not serious for you, but for a lot of people it's very serious and every little detail matters. If that's not you, so be it, but that is me.

Also you can play for real money in some leagues, which only elevates the game.

They're not selling early access. They're selling people the "privilege" to play a game on release day and delaying the game for everyone else. It's practically the same concept as selling content as DLC that's already in the game.

Yes, to a whole new level of ridiculousness.

That's OK. You can play your sports simulators as seriously as you'd like. Just so long as you know it's bordering on OCD. I for one, don't take any game that seriously and I'd never pay for this season pass. I hope you also know that I'm just having a spot of fun at the expense of your posts.

I honestly do think this season pass is terrible. I remember reading about it a while ago but never knew it went live until you posted about it.

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me.

Isn't that the way with a lot of things in life though? What's the difference between a first class plane ticket and coach? You still arrive at your destination at the same time as everyone else. You just get a premium service.

This is a premium service for those who are exceptionally excited about the games. Everyone else doesn't really miss out by waiting, but I get my fulfillment sooner for just a little bit extra. Works out in my favor at least.

I'd like to see the same thing for other games and movies even. For example, 'you can pay $20 instead of $10 to see The Dark Knight a few days early'. That'd be sweet.

I'll give it a year before they announce some sort of bonus "Box Seat Special", where you can pay $50 instead of $25 and get the game a week early (i.e. right on time).
