Staff Making With Neloth.... (Is This Supposed To Happen?)

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:18 pm

During the questline of Dragonborn, I found myself in Tel whatever (Neloth's home). After doing some quests for him, he let me access his room where the staff making table is. I had a look around (took the Black Book, which completely messed up future quests!!!) and decided I may come and enchant a staff later.

Upon finishing everything there was to do, with an exception to a few misc quests, I came back and...... found his room has been locked. I am apart of his family now, can freely access everything in his tower, yet I am unable to access this room. And nor do I have access to the bed and chest he told me about. Where are they?

Did anyone else have this issue? I'm not fussed as I don't use staffs now, but it would be nice to know why i'm now locked out.

If he makes you a member of house Telvanni, you should reeive a key that unlocks the staff enchanter room. If you have been made a member of house telvanni for sure, then it should unlock for you whenever you activate it. If not it's a bug.

I'm 100% a member of the family, but never received a key. Would I be right in guessing that is where the bed and chest is too?

In Tel Mirthyin or whatever (I MUST check the spelling and write it on my hand!). There is a locked room which opens at some point and you can then create your own staffs.

Don't know why you are locked out, once you become part of the household the door to the staff room usually stays open. As for a room and bed for you, for some strange reason, you have to share with the steward. Not the best thing, but hey, this is Neloth we're talking about. He probably thinks sharing is a privilege! lol

So it's safe to say, this time at least, my game is bugged here... Nice...

I don't mind sharing with the Steward - better then being Neolth's Thrall ;)

I didn't even know that you had the option of sleeping in the steward's bed; every bed I've encountered at Tel Mithryn has been owned. Also, It does sound like the OP's game is bugged if he is 100% part of House Telvanni now. I'm sure a patch will fix it up, although reloading to an earlier save could help.

If I had an earlier save.... I'm 100% apart of the family but no key. Would be nice if they did patch it, but going from their track record so far... Not fussed though as I don't use staffs, but I know others would like to be able to do so.
