Standing Stones - so little choice.

Post » Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:05 am

I guess 90% of all players use Lord, Atronach or Steed, right?

Perhaps someone goes for the Faster Leveling stones.

And I can understand that you actually avoid Apprentice like hell.

But, whats with the rest? Especially The Thief?

And no one really likes the Lady? I knew, it is only really usefull if you can′t rest, and that is hardly the case.

However, I think you actually notice a difference when using The Lady, even in Combat.

What do you guys think?

I wished the Standing stones represented animal spirits or something along the lines of the puzzle stones in connection to Skyrims culture rather than being remodeled doom stones from Oblivion.

I tend to use the ones that speed up skill progression. Although Steed looks like something I would enjoy. I love playing the bag space game, and am constantly pushing my limits.

I put The Lord on the Aetherial Crown, but I keep one of the Guardian stones on my character, even when I'm finished leveling. I don't see any reason to OP my character anymore than already happens.

Thanx for ypur input so far.

It is a release to see people not blindly following the obviously "fotm"-choices.

Personally, I like the Lady on battlemage-characters (includig Spellswords/Nightblades etc.pp.) that dont use Restoration or Alchemy.

I think its good that there is a variety available to players, probably more use earlier in the game than later as effects can be minimal comparatively later on-however they are not compulsory you dont have to use them if you dont want like a lot of things such as enchantment enhancemnts.

With the kind of character I play, I take the Warrior Stone to start off and I usually end up switching between the Mage and Thief stones later depending on what I'm leveling. I haven't switched yet in my current playthrough but eventually I will be, though I've done good with leveling up what I've wanted to so far.. most of the other stones in the game I have no interest in because I don't really need them.

I like the Mage stone because magic perks are garbage and need to be attained quickly.

I don't really "hunt" specific standing stones, so on my character, I haven't even discovered all of them yet. When I come across a standing stone, I check its effect and activate it if I find it more useful than the current one.
So, for quite some time, I've had this "obvious" Lord Stone effect - I find it useful for a warrior type of character. Before that, I had the Lover Stone effect; I'm also a werewolf, so it served as a perfect replacement of the well rested bonus, but recently I decide I'm not that big on faster levelling up.

i use the apprentice on one of my altmer mages. Its pretty badass for me. Sometimes ill switch between the apprentice or atronach. Ill usually go with apprentice for the early levels til about level 30, then ill use the atronach.

But yeah i know theres so little choice. Like the one that makes all skills level up faster is completely useless. At least he mage, warrior and thief are more noticeable.

Does someone here use Mods like CCO that give you "Birthsigns" in the beginning instead of Standing Stones (meaning: You chose one of the Standing Stone Effect at the Beginning of the game and have no opportunity to change it later on)?

Under these circumstances, what would your choice of standing stones looks like?

Sorry for my ba english btw.

The last thing I want is to level up faster or have my health regen faster so I don't use those ones, but the Ritual stone that raises dead bodies is handy is some really tough fights. There's also a good open lock one.

I like them all, and have used them all fairly equally pretty much. Besides one, Serpent Stone, it's a neat idea but I don't like how it's fired out of your face. Currently though, with the character in my signature, I'm typically using the Lord Stone. Not very creative of me, but 50% Magic Resistance without using any slots for Enchanting isn't too shabby at all.

Have to say also, the Ritual Stone is damn fun.

I love CCO :) For RP purposes I select "random".
