Starting Skyrim on PC

My new hard drive is due to arrive today and I will finally be playing Skyrim via PC tonight. For now I am just going to connect the hard drive to my LED TV and play that way, but I am considering getting a nice gaming monitor down the road. Can anyone offer suggestions for an awesome 24"-27" gaming monitor? Links? I'd like to try to stay under $500 for it. Thanks!

*I really want to have the best picture possible :)

Dell probably makes the best monitor for the buck...I'm not generally their biggest fan, but they excel here. Money spent doesn't necessarily guaranty quality. The worst monitor I ever had was a $700 ViewSonic LCD...
