So at the end of a certain quest you get the Oghma Infinium which is a book that raises your skills (magic, might, or shadow) plus 5 each. After you use the book it disapears once you leave your inventory... Unless you drop the book after reading it.

I picked up the book but it didn't raise my skill again, but it is worth 2,500 so I thought I would hang on to it.

After much looting I bought a house in solitude and put Oghma Infinium on my book shelf. (somehow it glitched and I have 2!) no everytime i read the book a have the option of raising all my skills (magic, might, or shadow) plus 5.

So basically if I wanted to I could have a max character real quick.

I don't know how the book was duplicated it happened when I was messing around with placing it on the shelf in my bedroom.

I don't know, based on the titles of the forums this one seemed most appropriate to me. There's not really any spoilers, it is kind of a bug/exploit.

Sorry to bump this but if anyone wants to do this be sure to read the book before you place it on the shelf (when you are selecting which books you want to place). And after the book is on the shelf you'll want to put it into your inventory before the skill boost selection pops up. If you do the boost from the shelf it gets used up.
