Stat 'offset' values - what do they do?

Hi there,

I'm playing about with adding new creature variants to the game, and one of the stat options has me a bit unsure.

There are a few stats that have 'offset' values, which the wiki describes as the value that may be added or subtracted to the value in question.

But what does that mean?

Does it mean that every creature you meet will be either X, X-100 or X+100?
If so, is this random or leveled? So a lvl 12 bear will be Bear-100 when my lvl5 chracter meets him, Bear when I'm lvl 12 and Bear +100 when I'm lvl 20?
Are the values modified by up to and including the offset value, so it could be anything withing that value(-27, +33 etc), or is it fixed at -100, +100 or +0?

My hope would be that it represents a 'randomising' quality, so that a wolf with Heath 100 with a heath offset of 30 might, when encountered, have health anywhere from 70 to 130. Is that right?

Thanks!!

IIRC, it's an offset value to what is already set.

A scaled bear with 50 health offset would always have 50 more hp than a scaled bear without the heath offset.

ok... so why use it at all? Why not just set the health to +50 from the beginning?

When would the scaling make a difference?

It sounds like, from what you say, like a wolf with 100 health, offset 50, would be 150 if it came from a scaled spawn, but 100 if not. If that is the case, why bother? That's a fairly limited way of having any kind of variation?

Offset works with the autocalculated stats.

If a Level 25 Snail is autocalculated to have 250 HP, but the health offset is set to 50, the Level 25 Snail will have 300 HP.
It is helpful with scaled creatures that are also autocalculated. No matter what level your scaled creature is, it will always have a bonus HP or Magicka. It's essentially like giving the creature a Fortify Health/Magicka effect.

So this only works for creatures that have the box ticked where stats are generated based upon the player's level? Other creatures will remain as they were in their basic profile, or will the offset be added as well?
