Steady Hand and Slow time Nerd Rage complaint

Post » Wed May 23, 2012 7:03 pm

I'm not sure how to phrase this but steady hand and the first word of the slow time shout have my feathers all ruffled up in all kinds of bad ways. Why the hell did they put a perk into a game (steady hand on archery tree) that slows down everything including you. It doesn't really help with aiming at all and actually makes the eagle eye perk really annoying because whenever i zoom everything slows down. It would be a great perk if everything slowed X% except you but it slows down everything in the environment around you, it slows your aiming basically putting sensitivity to what feels like a damn near zero so even though my target is slow and now seems possibly easier to hit, my aiming slows relative to everything else, and so does the notching of the arrow and letting the arrow fly from the bow. So I have to lead a moving target by an incredible amount to hit it and most of the time I always miss because my bow won't move into position fast enough with every single action taking place slowed to a crawl and so the enemy, especially dragons, have already passed my screen before I could even get the bow into position because you have to lead them quite a bit with your aim to hit them as they fly by, and when the arrow finally does fly it too flys X% slower so it doesn't give much of an advantage except for causing everything to happen more slowly so you could possibly follow it more easily, I tried using it to help me dodge incoming enemy ranged attacks so I get a bit of a headsup but it rarely works out the way i plan and i get hit because a lot of spells and projectiles travel too fast to dodge sometimes especially if you're not incredibly far away to give you a few milliseconds of time to react but since you too are being slowed it seems you would dodge it but when values change relative to each other you're still not fast enough to move out of the way, my point, this is very frustrating and i keep trying to find a good application for the perk but it seems really useless, just a good way to slow everything and scope stuff out when things are happening really quickly.

As far as the slow time shout goes, basically the same complaint here, I just got the first word of the slow time shout and was excited to test it out and when i activated it...what happens you may ask? Not only do all the enemies around me go into slow motion (which at first seemed badass and i was like oh hell yeah awesome! time to pull a DBZ super saiyan goku and teleport around at super speed like they do lol), but the shout also affects the player character and makes them slower than a slug along with every other enemy in the room.

Maybe making the perk and shout this way was intentional but if you are slowed down along with all the enemies around you then you mathematically gain no real advantage.

I always thought I went a little bit faster then everyone when I used the slow motion shout. That’s why you can run circles around them when you do it.

...slow time affects you as well? [censored]! I was looking forward to spending my next dragon soul on that one.

...wonky censors on here.

The slow time doesn't begin until you zoom in after you have your arrow nocked. So, draw your bow, point in the general direction of your enemy, then zoom-in/slow-time, fine-tune your aim, release arrow AND release zoom/slow-time. You don't want to reload in slow-time, for the very reason you gave. It's like your concentration whilst aiming bends time and space like Hiro from Heroes.

The slow time shout affects you to a lower degree. It's not that bad, stop exaggerating. You could easily do circles around enemies, just not at regular walking pace.

The whole system is interesting, and can be annoying. Yet I find it super useful. It just takes time to master bud. It was very frustrating for me as well... But I got the hang of it, and it really helps out.

The best way for me to explain it is. For me I'm an adrenallin junky when it comes to cars and going fast... When all this kicks in its like time slows down allowing you time to think and make a well though out action.

So it's kinda the same... Everything is still moving the same speed, but because time is slowed you have the ability to make wiser choices and have faster reflexes that are relivent to "time"

Hope this helps...

I like Steady Hand, since I'm an archer it can get pretty nasty in dungeons or when fighting bears, so it's nice to just right click+hold and have a second or two to digest the information of what events just transpired.
