Stealing for a living from NPC's or players

Hi Guys

One of my favourite things to do in the elder scrolls games is too steal the most valuable items in the game. I am hoping that we can carry on dong this and hope that the thieves guild is as prevalent in the mmo as it is in the games. Some things I will be really interested in is can we steal from other players? Ie them or possibly player owned housing if its in the game? I would love this to be possible as I am rather rubbish at grinding for crafting mats etc to make gold ala wow and have traditionally been rather poor in mmos but if I can steal well Ill be very rich indeed

The thieves guild will not be in at launch, nor is there a crime system. The former will be released in full at some point and the latter (I believe) they've said they're sort of seeing how it could fit in. (HARD in an MMO) That said you can pick things up/take them from stalls and stuff, but there's no consequence. Also for balance issues obviously you can't steal really valuable items; it is, as said, an MMO I'm afraid.

Ah we'll nvm it would be a bit much to implement at launch

quite easy to implement high valuable items just make them one player instanced quests that you either take the item to sell or return to NPC's for reward, a similar thing was done in age of Conan they were called the villas.

So for example

Pick up quest to steal a ruby of eternal flame or something that sounds cool.

Go across town to enter instanced building/sewer/castle/cathedral anything

Then start gameplay similar to thief ie light shadows noise patrols

Steal ex item return to NPC's for reward or sell on market

The quests could be repeatable and only available once reaching a certain skill level

Once the quest pool has been repeated x amount of times the difficulty could start to go up by added patrols or choosing a different item in the same instance that is harder to obtain.

Regarding stealing from players this wouldn't be to hard to do but would probably piss people off a lot
