Really, can anyone use Steam effectively right now?

There's been so much traffic that I can't buy a thing. Which svcks really bad because I couldn't catch Contagion when it was 75% off.

You guys got any horror stories from the wonderful winter sale?

I missed out on FFVIII and a couple other things. I just can't connect to anything on Steam (store wise) and I'm not even interested in the free LFD2. That's probably why Steam has crashed and burned.

I didn't think of L4D... I bet loads of people started playing that.

Oh well, I can wait I guess... better than fighting to the death over crap at WalMart.

I got in long enough to get the store page as well as check out a few games, but I can't access the Redeem Wallet Code page. It's irritating.

I had planned on picking up Wasteland 2 and Part 2 of TWD but I guess that's not going to happen. It looks like just an extreme rush of people trying to get the free L4D2 deal, any chance it might get cleared up by tonight?

Probably wont be fixed till tomorrow, since most of Valve is probably on break.

Every once in a while usually every 3-5 minutes it will bring up the store page, when I go to buy the game it gives me error -118 :/. It's like Gaben himself is punishing me for not buying more games when they were on sale.

I played the first season on my friend's Xbox and I've been wondering something, do you have to pay for the new episodes when they come out or do you get them for free? If I buy the game now will I have to pay to get the new episodes when they come out?

I played Season 1 on 360, and payed 5€ for each episode, as I got more interested.

Then I bought S1 again for my new PC, I payed once for all of 'em. Same with Season 2. I payed 22€ for S2 and I'll get to download the new episodes wheneven they are released without paying for S2 again.

EDIT: TWD; S1 and TWD; S2, are classified as 2 different games in Steam. If you payed for S1 you won't be getting S2 episodes. You can still import your progress/decisions from S1 to S2.

I can access the store now, but now I get an error message when I try to log in. Not great.

The store is working to the point when I try to pay, or try to redeem a Steam Wallet card I get the blasted -118 error. I was easily able to download LFD2 though.

Simply put I am now able to browse the store uninhibited, but am rendered unable to pay for anything.

Steam seems to be working for me. I wasn't home until just now and haven't tried to buy a game but I went through it for a while and I've had no problems.

Yeah, works poorly for me too. They just don't learn. Don't give free games during sales that keep their servers busy to begin with
