Steam redownloading Skrim

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:36 pm

So I bought skyrim over Direct 2 drive last week, downloaded the files yesterday and tried to install today after midnight. Now steam wants to redownload everything very slowly. I see there is a work around for the DVD, but is there one for the digital download?

Can you mount the digital download and point the Steam Icon Directory path to it? (like the DVD fix)

I am wondering how I would do that, I have all of the same files, they are located on my E: Drive in a folder that I unzipped the files too from the digital download. Any ideas?

Have you ever used daemon tools before?
You can mount a bunch of files from your PC on an emulated drive and point to that via the steam icon path

I have a similar problem. I finished pre-loading the game, restarted steam, and as soon as the decrypting finished steam started "updating" the game with a 5 gb update, basically restarting the install. I know the first install worked because I'm able to run the game directly with the tesv.exe in the steam folder. I don't want to go through the whole install process again because my download speeds are very slow. Honestly, my problem seems like a steam problem, but the steam forums are down so I can't ask for help there :(

Same problem here, anyone figured out a solution yet?
