STEAM skyrim crashing on main menu

Skyrim steam crashing?
hey i was wondering has anyone got skyrim on steam? if so is their game crashing as its about to go into the main menu after u have chose graphicv options and that like on the dragon logo thing? i am on win 7 64 bit and my spcs are way over what it needs to run i have tryed restting pc, running as admin, defrag game and verify cach, evern tryed running it throught the steam apps folder as admin buit still doing the sae thing :( and to top it off i cant check the forums or email steam as hey have been hacked by someone and are down i have been lookign forward to this game for ages :( any ideas please

Having the same problems. This svcks, two days off work and I'm spending one of them just getting the game to start ffs

Start -> Control Panel -> Sound

Select the output speakers being used and click Properties

Under the advanced tab, change the sample rate to 24 bit / 44100 Hz


Also, if you guys would be so kind to post back what setting it was on previously? Wondering if it's only 24 bit / 192000 Hz that doesn't work (don't have the game yet).

24 bit/192000 Hz here. I'm changing it now. I will edit the post if this fix works for me.

Edit: I want to have your babies, 10 times over. It worked for me. Thank you, I'll spread this fix where I can to help others.

Same problem but the solution doesn't work for me. Tried every value in that list and while the ones higher up the list crash faster it still crashes.
