Steam apparently "updated" my Skyrim at 11:36pm (8:36pm EST). A 2.8mb update. Is this the launch day patch?

I didn't know patches could also get pre-loaded?

What could this 2.8mb update possibly be?

(PS: I pre loaded the game yesterday)

Yeah I saw that too - tis a mystery.

I'd get used to little patches going through. This is the biggest thing Bethesda has ever done... I would expect nothing less than a constant stream of patches with bug fixes and other tweaks to perfect the game. They'll be working on it for a year I bet. Just to make it perfect for us ; )

When mine updated it responded with a dialog box with a PLAY button.

For about 30 seconds, I could not breathe. Then reality set in.

the 2.8mb patch was merely Skyrim becoming self-aware and laying the foundation for its Skynet 2.0 software which will, in time, enslave all of humanity to toil and labor in a depressing and hopeless future dominated by evil robot ninjas.

Could this 2.8mb update be the Day 1 Patch? PRE-LOADED?

After all, it's been confirmed by Bethesda that this is a "MINOR" update

Not sure what else it could be. This all has me wondering how fast the process is between finding a bug, finalizing a patch, and pushing it through Steam (assuming a straightforward bug that would take a competent programmer or scripter minutes to fix).

Oh, hell I doubt it. Probably not...

The update contained a readme file and dotnetfx35setup.
Nothing special though...

dotnetfx35setup is 2.89mb, so i guess that makes sense. it also has a "late" Date Modified tag.

To avoid nubs running the game without dotnetfx installed and going flaming mental on the forums AMAGADWHYITNOWORKBETHESDAUSUXK!
And the rest of us has to endure constant reinstalls of all those things for every game we play, thanks to those ppl
