1. You mean like how virtually every other EULA ever made prohibits class-action lawsuits and/or demands arbitration?

2. I have no idea what you posted because the font color makes it illegible on the forum skin I use.

It doesn't prohibit lawsuits. The EULA is including a waiver of the ability to file a class-action against them.

On one hand that svcks because individuals rarely have the wherewithal to take a large company to court. On the other hand, most class-actions never go anywhere anyway because they're filed by attorneys trolling for money.

Edit:
As DEFRON said, it's not that out of the ordinary. Is today knee-jerk reaction day?

Is that really going to work? If I get someone to sign a piece of paper saying they can't sue me when they come into my house that doesn't mean I can murder them.

You can still sue them. You just can't class-action sue them.

So they can only get sued if it only pisses one person off?

Nah, class actions are a different animal altogether.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_action

In theory it's used as a deterrent to organizations screwing large groups of people over wholesale. In practice it usually involves a group of trolling attorneys seeing an opportunity for a class action, passing around a form promising qualifying wronged persons some kind of token award (free hat!), and then said attorneys making a ton of money if they actually win a settlement.

That could still be worked around. Kickstarter to raise money for one person to sue Steam. Kickstarter award is double what you put in.

Those attorneys are in for the struggle of their lives if they want to pick a fight with Valve by drawing the "free hat" card.

Yeah, I noticed that when I tried to start up steam today. It's not really surprising.
