Steam Users: will an accidental console opening disable achi

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 7:11 am

One new game I started I got credit for achievements. The other first game I had where I was level 6 I got NO achievements at all and the only thing I can think of is that odd rumor about the console and disabling achievements.

My ~ key is near my TAB key and I hit the console ~ accidentally all the time. Would this cause achievements to be disabled in steam?

If not why am I not getting credit in my second new game and not my first game?

I have no idea... I've accidently pressed the Tilde more than a few times, but I am still getting my achievments.

I actively cheat for gold sometimes because I no longer have the free time to grind gold. I also use TCL when I get stuck, or just curious. Still get my achievements.

I doubt just opening it would disable them. You can just always reload the game if you are unsure. I guess if you press it 12 times an hour that could get pretty annoying though.

I read that if you edit your ini that could do it too but I have no clue. I'm not really paying attention to mine.

I believe that, in New Vegas for example, it was a per gameplay session. If you opened the console during that session, achievements were disabled. If you quit and load up your save game again, achievements could be achieved again.

I'm guessing Skyrim works the same way.

Honestly, this seems an excersize in futility, unless they also disabled achievements whenever third party mods were active.

Nope, I TGM-ed through the last half of the main quest and still got the one for level 25, and all the MQ related ones.
I just wanted to beat the MQ real quick and start again with a new character.

I can confirm it does not affect anything, at least for me.

I TGM and jumped out of the mage castle in whiterun, and used it from then on.

Every time I load up the game I open the console and change the fov. I still get achievements. Maybe you just didn't do anything corresponding to a new achievement, check them on steam and see.
