Steam version: Disabling Vsync via SkyrimPrefs.ini turns off

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:31 am

I read this (http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/11/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweaks-improve-graphics-disable-vsync-change-fov-and-more/):

Disable Vsync
Access the SkyrimPrefs.ini again and add iPresentInterval=0 to the bottom of the [Display] section. This can improve a sluggish framerate and eliminate instances of mouse lag. Thanks to Tweak Guides for this one.

Bur then, in another forum where this fix was cited (among other tweaks), I read "Oh no, messing with the ini files disabled my achievements...".

Can someone please confirm me this?

Because this dll http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ICEDIU66 fixed the Crossfire performance issue (just put it in the Skyrim main folder) but I can't go beyond 60 FPS, either indoors or outside (I'm stuck at 60 FPS, actually).

Thanks in advance.

I would assume that it will disable achievements, yes. Considering that doing anything with the console, even opening it once, is reported to do the same.

Just confirming, you both have the Steam version right? :)

Thanks guys.

Just like FO New Vegas then. BTW, can I disable the console through the ini file as well? Because sometimes I accidentally hit the tilde key...

EDIT: Including quotes.

I ordered it on a disc but it still installs as a steam game and I've changed fov, disabled vsync, enabled 2 graphic shadow options etc in the ini and I still see achievements popping up.

Er... The fix didn't do the trick! I'm still stuck at 60 FPS. What's wrong?

It reads:

How do I fix the vsync ("laggy mouse") problem?

1. Go to your Steam Directory -> steamapps -> common -> skyrim -> Skyrim
2. Create a backup of the SkyrimPrefs.ini file
3. Open the file, then scroll down to where it says [Display]
4. Add to the bottom of the section iPresentInterval=0
5. Save, exit, and play

I did exactly as told, to no avail. Still stuck at 60 FPS... :-/
