A no-steam version for pc? maybe gog.com?

Post » Wed Oct 17, 2012 11:09 am

Hi.unfortunately bethesda like steam. see this from the fact that many of his games use steam, but is in the interest of bethesda embrace more buyers that you can. would be nice if those who don't want have steam may have an alternative. if bethesda considered gog.com would be a wise thing, would us a way to buy bethesda games.

If bethesda like steam, there are many people who do not like, and don't buy their games. Gog.com(or simple cd check) is the way to give us the change to buy your pc game if you continue to use steam bethesda. Think about this. Put your games on gog.com, DRM free, as The witcher 2, as Alan Wake. we are waiting for this to buy your games.to buy Rage, to buy Skyrim, To buy Dishonored. :)

forces people to installing it to play video games. When in the past there was no need to install external software to start video games. We require an alternative system, or a system where is possible register the game copy just at the official steam site, without installing the steam software on the PC.

No, it's not. You just said that you don't want Steam, but you never said why. Maybe you should just give it a try...

Steam is around so there will be less pirate copying, if you don't like it. That's your problem and if you think you can change anything by making a post about it, your out of luck. ;)

Welcome to the world of DRM. As a DRM system, Steamworks is one of the better ones. Be glad it's not GFWL or something more heinous.

It would be better to wait and see if a GOG version comes out, I doubt it though.

Personally, I have no issues with Steam: I don't see why people let it stop them buying games.

I've never understood this type of mentality towards platforms such as Steam or Origin. I understand Origin does some snooping around on your HDD but it seems only if it's left idle. So easy fix is to only run Origin when you are playing an Origin game. I will not let a phobia as silly as being afraid to use 3rd party DRM affect my purchase decisions. The only PC game I have issues with would be BF3 with it's horrid battlelog system and unbelievably large patches. Plus the game itself is just not any fun, but that's opinion not everyone feels the same as me I guess.

Why you wouldn't want to get steam in this day and age is beyond me. Its as if you went skying, and absolutely didn't want a helmet, there is no good reason for it!

OP, you are entitled to your opinion about Steam, and can equally show your disfavor by not buying games that have various DRM checks. Of which Steamworks seems the least intrusive, imo. I installed, registered and now play offline.

However, I am going to close this topic - there are DRM discussion in the Community Discussion, and this particular type of topic, related to a specific game, has often led to people posting about stuff we do not discuss here- piracy and the like.

Enjoy other games, if you cannot enjoy this one because you don't want to install Steam.
