It's a mess.
I've used a New Zealand proxy adress to unlock Skyrim early, I've already downloaded the 18 MB update, but I can't play! WTF?!
Steam only gives me the option to Pre-Load, and when I try it it says "Pre loading is complete. When the game is officialy released, you'll be able to play it immediatly."
Can anyone help?

Mabye it would be easier to wait the few hours Skyrim has to come out worldwide. Exept for Japan.

It probably knows that your Steam account isn't from New Zealand, not solely relying on your current IP address.

Just be patient. Obviously you can't play because it hasn't unlocked yet.

Using a proxy breaks Steam's Terms of Service, and you risk getting your Steam account banned if they catch you. I don't think we can discuss that here.

And this can get you a warning around here, discussion on circumventing Steam is not permitted here, just saying.

Did you, by any chance download from your local steam server or did you download it from the NZ server? that could be the problem.

But when I used the NZ proxy, my Steam account downloaded the 18 MB update. Doesn't that mean that the game should be unlocked?

EDIT: to everyone who says this is illegal, Steam said they won't ban no one if they use proxy to unlock pre purchased games early, they will only ban those who try to get cheaper prices using proxy.

Why don't you just wait like everyone else instead of trying to cheat your way to an early release or keep posting about it & get banned. I would enjoy that so you have to buy two copies.
