Not legally, unless you installed the game before the first patch and made a backup of the original .exe file.

I hate steam and if I purchase the game why force me to pay to use another program to run the game?

It can't. Look on the back of the box. Steam is required.

If you don't have it readily accessible, there's small fine print that says:

"Notice: Product offered subject to your acceptance of the Steam Subscriber Agreement ("SSA"). You must activate this product via the Internet by a Steam account and accepting the SSA."

Yes but the Internet card I would need to buy isn't. Mostly I just hate steam.

You just need internet for a one-time activation of your product, after that you can go offline and your fine. Steam is DRM and probably the least intrusive one of them all, believe me it's better they used Steam than something like Securom(shutters).

DRM sadly the the future of PC gaming, I hate it, most people do but we *legal* gamers must put up with it.

That is not their problem. The vast majority of people have an internet connection. The box states that you need one for activation of the game. They are not responsible for you not reading the requirements on the box before buying.

And hey, I agree too, Steam shouldn't be required, but it is, and if you want to play the game, you have to go with it.

You do realize... Oblivion and Fallout 3 used Securom, don't you? Stop associating the name with the "phone home" extreme version they have that few games actually use. Oblivion and Fallout just used a simple disc check.

At least with SecuRom, you could always go to like GCW and download cracked copies to play your game. And you know what? You could freely activate LAA on them.

Wehat the HELL is an "INTERNET CARD" as i have never heard of needing one to use the internet.

I have a Modem/Router
A network card on my PC
and a ISP account thats it.
There is nothing more you need to run this game, as others have said you activate it on
steam run the game once and then exit restart steam in offline mode and end of problems,
also most games hese days require Steam as they have a large share of the Digital
sale and distributation market, most game in the future will be on steam which is far better than Securrom
GFWL/Origin. So we legal gamers have to live with it.

Considering this thread has the potential to run close to prohibited topics, I'm going to close it before anyone runs the risk of getting into trouble.

There is no legal method of bypassing the Steam requirement, as far as I'm aware.

For further discussion regarding Steam itself, we do have a topic for that in the Community Discussion sub-forum.
