step cliffing

Hi its a lot of time I use ck now but I have never been able to see if there is a easier way to make step clifs like if you have a slope and cut in with the brush a step flat curve like if you want to put a trail on the side of the montain , everytime I use the flat its falloff always influences a lot of the surrounding area slopes so to do a step I usually have to rise and lower manualy terrain untill I find a balance and is tedious work , is there so a way to temper the falloff edition? I tried the % indication in the H menu but didn't work ...

Yeah the Flatten tool is pretty much entirely useless in an all natural world like Skyrim. It works great for Parking lots in Fallout, but that's about it.

Perhaps if you don't want to do it by hand, the 'Raise To/Lower To By X' option would be for you? It raises and lowers the land (Kind of messily) to match the starting value, only in the influence circle, meaning there is no huge fallout like the Flatten tool.

Otherwise you just have to do it by hand, which shouldn't take too long if you're fairly 'rough' with the land, which also often results in a more natural looking finished product.

Yeh that's more or less what I use but I do faster by hand in the end I first flatten the cliff even if it takes a lot of surroundings then I lower manually the rised parts and camouflage with rocks ... anyway damn that editor engine is so primitive compared to cryengine ...

I think it would be MUCH faster if you just used the normal (Not smooth or flatten) tool to shape out a path...

And yes the cryengine probably has much better tools for land, but it needs to, their worlds are more visually complex, so you need better terrain to match.
