My steward cracked me up

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:37 am

RP'ing tonight, and my current character Maren was wearing just plain clothes around the house in HH while fiddling around with decorating. When I/she was done she went and put them back in the wardrobe, but forgot to re-equip her armor. I walked thru the main dining hall past my steward Golldir, and he promptly exclaimed " By Ysmir, you're going to freeze to death!" It was too funny, the tone so shocked, and I liked hearing new dialog!

If you have had some funny dialog with your spouse, staff or kids, lets hear it.

thats not new dialog but funny all the same :) I was swapping armor at the Whiterun and for a moment was naked. a passing guard said something to the effect that no matter how confident I was of my body, I should put some clothes on. :P my character (a female) was rather offended and stole his armor from him. Now he walks around naked.

LOL, love it! That would gives fits of laughter every time I saw him!

It was new dialog to me, and struck me as hilarious. I wonder what other funnies I haven't heard?

there is a nip in the air... not good for his crops if you know what I mean :P

I sometimes just have my character run around in the nvde while in towns just to hear the different reactions. One guard asked if that was fur coming out of my ears. Was not even sure how to respond to that one. Though I had to question one of the guard's preferences when my female character walked past him and he said "put some clothes on, I don't want to see that" or something along those lines. Guess he doesn't like the sight of a strong(lovely) nvde nord woman.

Its REALLY funny to walk past that haughty high elf in Solitude who tells you "If your going to the blue palace, you may want to rethink that outfit" if your character is in the nvde.

Have fun haha.

If your on the PC I'd suggest using the enhanced guards conversation mod. It unlocks all available phrases from the guards thats scripted in the game but for some reason not available. For example instead of them greeting you with "let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?" to "Greeting Harbinger, you took out that cave full of witches. My respects to you." or Greetings my thane." the guards actually seem to know and comment on your actions in the game. very cool for RP purposes.

I wish! I am on the xbox 360, but have been wanting to go to PC. Not in my budget at the moment, but I need a new pc, and when I do get one, I will be looking for one that will also do a decent job supporting gaming that I can connect to my tv. That is definitely a mod I want!

My Steward, Cow and Horse decided they want me dead and the bandits decided they wanted to ally with me to kill my steward and animals.

I walked past a Solitude guard while completely nvde. He advised me to sell my "junk" at "Bits and Pieces."

Early in Braggen's adventures he needed money and decided to chop a lot of wood over in Riverwood. Did not take long before I decided the heavy armour had to go so he could carry more wood. Everything was stored in a barrel nearby and Braggen was working up a sweat in his underwear. One of the female NPC's walked by and said "Gonna get cold tonight. Might want to at least cover your delicates."

I play on Xbox 360 and the guards dialogue seems to cover well enough what my character had done, or is, or was doing, but you still get the more insulting ones as well, I doubt we need a mod to hear it all.

true. point is you shouldn't need a mod at all to unlock whats included in the game but for some reason not available.

Considering how many mods the PC players use, it is no wonder they need a mod to get what was probably in the game and available in the first place.

not going to argue with ya my friend. but Skyrim runs exactly on the PC as it does on other consoles without mods. I made the jump from the PS3 and have logged countless hours on that system. On the PC i didn't use this mod until reciently and well, you have to use it to know what it changed. I'll just say it added a lot of dialog that isn't included in the released versions. Just check it out. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23390

And please don't assume I'm saying everyone needs to play Skyrim on the PC cause mods are the only way the game is enjoyable. If I didn't have a PC I would have bought Skyrim for my 360 since DLC doesn't seem to be happening for the PS3. And I play Skyrim slouched on my couch on the tv. just like I did with my PS3.

But we are getting off topic and like I said, don't want to start an argument. We all play how we want and thats whats important. :)

So anyone else have funny comments made by NPC when you walk past em wearing little at all?

wow, I can't believe this is recorded but unavailable. That is very disappointing to hear. I would love to see if we can get Bethesda to some how unlock or include this content.

I've actually heard the dialogue as described and I play on the Xbox (so, no mods obviously). Wanna know what unlocks it? Vampire attacks.

Honestly. Not exclusively vampire attacks, but having Dawnguard installed does help periodically fix the ambient dialogue-stalling problem. There's way more ambient dialogue in the game that most of us (particularly us console players) ever hear, but it's very easy to "stall" (cause still unknown) so that most of us don't. Vamp attacks seem to reset everything until the next time it stalls. Some of you, ever since installing Dawnguard, may have heard conversations between NPCs that you've never heard before, and guard dialogue that you've never heard before, etc.

That is true, I have heard a lot more town conversations than ever before. It's good, but not good to hear what triggers them.

Very interesting Little Beard. I will have to keep that in mind. Do you know if every DLC resets this, or is it specifically the Dawnguard guard dialog update?
