Steward issues

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:46 am

I think I have run into a bit of a problem. I just had a dragon attack my house. During the battle my horse died, I figured I would tell Lydia (my steward) to get me another one. The only problem is the line of dialogue is missing. I cant get any more chickens, bards, or a cow either. I just recently purchased a horse and a cow aswell as a few chickens. Does this take a few days to reset to become available again?

Any help would be great, I'm debating of rolling back to a save, nut that was two days ago and did some minor stuff I don't feel like repeating.

Thanks again!!

I think you need to wait till the body disappears, wait a few days. Once you have 3 chickens you can buy no more, and probably miss out on the bard. If you lose the chickens they will respawn when you are absent from the house for 10 days. But the option to get a horse or cow should turn up again, I would just wait.

Or that expensive horse? My characters tend to lose them.

I'm worried about stabling Shadowmere at Heljarchen. If an ancient dragon attacks here he might tackle it on his ownsome and die. Shadowmere is supposed to be hard to kill but he IS killable — I've had to revert to an earlier save to get him back before. To save me the trouble of doing that, I think I must make him immortal.

Are you not enough to protect him? Pretty sure he would be safe from dragon attacks at Heljarchen Hall anyway.

..... infers that I'll be nearby when a dragon attacks. I s'pose you're right. Nothing happens when the PC is not there, instead engaged somewhere else.

Shadowmere did die on me once at the hands of a dragon because she has that stupid habit of TPing whenever I TP, often when I don't want a horse around. We can't ask our nag to "wait here" at any place while we run around chasing bandits, &c. On that occasion I was too far away to defend the horse. I saw the attack from a long distance away. She died fighting valiantly.

While very efficient, I'd think it would be safer to just resurrect them instead. Don't know if the resurrect 1 option works for animals though. Haven't had any pets or horses die on me yet.
