[REQ] Sticky thread for existing mods?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:50 am

It would be nice to have a sticky with a list of known mods, so folks can comment on them. Would help to present what's available so one needn't comb through the forum posts, and brief descriptions would help one decide if that mod is appealing. Thanks!

Run a search for "[RELz]" in "This Forum". Maintenance of such a thread would quickly become ...cumbersome.

Justinother ...I can make no sense of your statement !

A sticky with a list of known mods is used on many other forums.

There will eventually be over 15,000 mods, probably within a few weeks after CK's release... Are you going to make a thread of 15,000 links when you can just do a search at the Nexus?

The only time such threads are useful are if they are specalized like for reasource mods. Rarely do they make stickies by request. The last one I know of was a video tutorial list for Fallout 3 modding

They are useful to patrons.

I'm sure the OP meant a list of most popular D/L mods made by recognised modders....not all the silly insignificant dross that Billy next door compiles :toughninja:

We don't play favorites on these forums. If there is to be a list of mods, it will be all of them, or none of them. If a mod is not included in a list, it was either missed, or not known about, or too new that the list just hasn't been updated yet.

There will be far too many mods for anyone to manage a list. Don't expect one. You are new to the forums, So I don't expect you to understand our ways just yet.

You want a list of popular mods go to skyrimnexus.com and click on "top 100"

Indeed.

And remember: the most popular mods are not necessarily the "best". Some of my favourite Oblivion mods are pretty obscure.

Indeed. one of my favorite mods you cant even find because of a "new version" which, IMHO is far crappier then the original.

I was implying that such a sticky would address actual mods... rather than a plethora of 'santa hat' mods/skins

but....Point taken.

But what makes those "santa hat" mods (Skins are mods too) any less deserving to be on a list then any other mod? Just because its not an uber epic quest mod doesn't mean it shouldn't be included.

Now, if we were talking about a thread of ONLY those uber epic quest mods, then yes, I completely agree, a thread would be useful... just not a sticky. As I said, things are rarely made stickies unless they are absolutely important.

To be frank, I don't see the need for such a sticky, or even a thread.

Morrowind and Oblivion do very well without, and mods can be easily found on the three major TES sites (TESNexus, PES, and TESAlliance) through the search engines.

Hm. Seemed self explanatory. In the mods forum, type "relz" in the search (top right corner). It will bring you a list of all released mods for which there are announcements.

+BONUS if you act now! It will also serve as a help thread for the mod, including issues with it, finding it, update notifications, and many other handy things.

We don't play favorites on these forums. If there is to be a list of mods, it will be all of them, or none of them. If a mod is not included in a list, it was either missed, or not known about, or too new that the list just hasn't been updated yet.
This. And such an all-inclusive list would become incredibly unwieldy, virtually impossible to properly maintain (in any sort of organized manner).

In theory it's a good idea, but in practice it really isn't.
