Does McNamara never actually get ousted after you give the holodisks to Hardin?

I got outside of the bunker, and just waited a couple of days. When I went back in, Hardin was the new Elder, and I got my power armor and power armor training.

Although, some people are reporting that the quest bugs for them.

So 2, 3, 4 days? And how far into McNamara's requests did you get? I got the holodisks then gave them immediately to Hardin, should I go further?

I didn't go further than giving the holodisks to Hardin. Although, I'm not sure if I gave them to McNamara first.

As for how many days, I waited at least four, maybe five.
